Yeah. Which is utterly sad. You’d think after having something as light-hearted and supposedly fun as an RPG be a traumatic experience they’d stop playing rather than insisting on continuing to play and assuming every GM is bad and out to get them.
Except that those of us who have had some egregiously bad DM's in the past read what people say about their games and how they run their games and see that these people are using exactly the same language as those egregiously bad DM's did. So, when people start spouting off about how the game should be played this way or that way, using virtually word for word the same language and arguments that I saw in some unbelievably bad games, then, yes, I'm going to probably be a lot less willing to just shrug it off.

Maybe if DM's were a lot more willing to listen to players instead of assuming every player is out to screw up their game, and far less DM's were advised that they are the "final word" and any player that challenges them should be chucked out the door, the hobby would be a lot more healthy.

And so, getting back to the lack of continued conversation that, along with Pizza, defines this thread....

Tickets to see Jurassic Park in a historic theater with a real life orchestra playing the score - acquired for March. The teenager is extremely excited.

Since I don't know where else to put this, and it was so bizarre.

A lot of people talk about "Perry Mason moments"*, or "smoking guns," and yet those almost never really occur in actual life. I was recently made aware of an actual smoking gun moment!

Without getting into details, there was a case that had been ongoing for years, and was nearing trial. There had been various discovery issues. A third party was about to be deposed, and had turned over documents at the beginning of the week. In those documents were ... wait for it ... numerous emails and other documents between the plaintiff and plaintiff's counsel**, and plaintiff and other parties, discussing and documenting their plan to concoct the entire lawsuit even though there was no factual or legal basis to do so, because they really really wanted to make more money in a business dispute. While this random and mostly unrelated third party happened to have copies of these, shockingly, all those other people never turned over the documents that they had in their possession.

That was certainly interesting!

What's the lesson? People, man. They suck. Oh, and people are always surprised (but shouldn't be) that there are multiple copies of stuff in this day and age.

*And by "a lot," I mean a few, usually older, people, while the young 'uns glance up from their tiktoks and say, "Who? Was that the cancelled show with Keri Russell's husband or something?"

**If you read that, and you're thinking ... what? Quick tip- if an attorney writes to you and says, "Do not include anyone else on this email, because it will destroy the attorney-client privilege," it's probably not a great idea to then forward that email to a bunch of people and quote it in other correspondence.

Unrelated to the above ... I don't want to get into an argument with you but there's a huge unexamined premise there.
