The Inevitable New Buffy Episode Thread (Spoilers after Sept 24)

Spike said something about them not being ghosts or zombies but "restless spirits" summoned by someone, and being bound to a talisman.
Plus Buffy found the talisman in the bathroom earlier, that is how she knew where it was.

Who was Zander meeting all dressed up? He said client but...

From what I've gathered online, Xander is doing very well for himself - he's moved up in the company and he's the foreman now who is organizing the crew working at the school.

I, too, believe that Hally was refering to the fact that she was Anya's last friend, and therefore only one at the impromptu 'intervention'. :)

As for the shifting monster ... I thought it was pretty neat. I also thought it was neat that not only did it take their appearance, it also took their voice, their manners, and their personality/goals. Joss & Crew are smart: If it had been just a shapeshifter, the voice would have remained the same (remember how well SMG and ED were directed, and acted, when their characters switched bodies? Their verbal dynamics and mannerisms changed completely ... it was wonderful), but these were almost identical replications of all of the villains. Veeeeeeeeeery interesting. My guts going "First Evil" on me, too.

And ... since I've been busy at school, I haven't done any spoiler hunting for anything beyond the first few eppies. *hyperventalating* I'm going to go ... *gulp* Spoiler Free this year!!!! EEK!

Did anyone notice from the opening credits who was and wasn't included. I saw Anya and Spike, but I didn't see Dawn in the opening. It's completely likely that my dogs distracted me right then, though. Giles was a "Special Guest Star".

I missed the credits, but Giles is most likely not in the credits due to SAG rules. A person could be in every episode or only one, but depending on their contract, and the requirements therein, they may or may not be in the title credits. I remember a lot of discussion of this sort of thing when B5 was in production.

The First Evil was one of my theories as well.

OTOH, one of my other theories is that there was no creature there at all, and we're just seeing the visualization of Spike's growing madness...

I thought about it... esp. considering some of the latter personas... _BUT_... When did Spike ever meet The Master? When he came onto the scene, the Master was already dead, and it was the Anointed One giving orders. Spike shouldn't know much about the master. I mean, he knows OF him sure, but how he looked, sounded, and acted? And why would he halucinate him, anyhow?

Dawn was in the opening credits and Giles is listed as a guest star because he is only supposed to be in about 10 episodes this season.

I also caught the Harkness reference and thought it was very cool.

Another scene left out of the spoilers above was the second Willow and Giles scene...

Giles is helping Willow off the ground after she has apparently collapsed. In the course of finding out what just happened to her, she tells him that she saw the dark part of the Earth. She saw it's teeth. Giles interprets this to mean the Hellmouth. And it's going to open...

This would fall in with the First Evil theory.

And in the "next week preview" the title is "Buffy the Guidance Counselor."

Sure looks like a set up for Buffy as a bit part in the next series to me...

PS

It currently seems like the first evil might be the morphy thingy. My gaming group all tends to think that it might be a personification of the Hellmouth. I will just have to wait and see though.

Hm. Spike never did meet the Master. That would seem to be a point against the just insane theory. Whatever the morphy thing is must be choosing forms for a reason.

On a different note did anyone else catch that Dawn now has her own Scooby Gang? I have a feeling that we will be seeing Dawns friends with a certain regualrity on the show. Especially given the amount of time the show will be there. You do NOT build a new set like that and use it only for three or four episodes.

As far as Buffy the guidance counselor I bet she works on tuesdays. ;)

Note - the Master was stuck under Sunnydale for about 60 years. Spike's been a vampire for much longer than that. Unless he states somewhere that he's never met the Master, they could very well have met in some point in the past.

Now, here's a bit of speculation for you. The principle's office is right over the Hellmouth, right? And that gives the characters some concern. Well, consider - last time the thing right over the Hellmouth was a Watcher...

Wrong. Spike DOES know The Master. He traveled with Angelus and Darla (Who was sired by the Master remember?). He would have seen him.

And the thing took on the forms of all the Evil EXCEPT Buffy. My opinon? I think its the First Slayer. After all ... Death is her Gift.

Just my humble opinion.

I like Dawn much better and i do know the following:
