The mandalorian [Spoilers]

Who is Ezra? Were they from rebels or clone wars? I never got around to watching the former or finishing the latter.
Ezra Bridger was in Rebels. He was a Jedi in training with an affinity for using the Force to communicate with and befriend animals. His fate was left ambiguous at the end of the series, but wherever he went, he took Thrawn with him. At the end of the series, Ahsoka and another character (a young Mandalorian named Sabine Wren) went looking for him. The fact that Ahsoka is still looking for Thrawn by the time of The Mandalorian suggests that she may not have found Ezra yet either.

Ezra seems like the most likely candidate for a Jedi other than Luke who could still be alive and able to show up and train Grogu at this point in the timeline. If they don't use Ezra or a digitally de-aged Luke, then they'll either have no one show up or it'll be a brand new character. Or maybe a bad guy? But Vader and Palpatine are both dead / defeated, and neither Snoke nor Kylo Ren are alive yet, so that would have to be someone new too, I think.

Could end up just being Moff Gideon. He's not a Jedi or a Sith, nor has he been revealed to be Force sensitive (yet), but he does have the darksaber, and he is tracking the Razor Crest.

How many episodes have we got left? Three?

I can see the next one being another "filler" episode, and then maybe the next one after that, Mando arrives on Tython and tries to attract a Jedi, then maybe in the final episode both a Jedi (Ezra? Someone else?) shows up around the same time as Moff Gideon, and there's a bit of a showdown.

At this point, I don't think we'll see Bo-Katan again this season. If Mando ends up helping her reclaim the darksaber and Mandalore, it'll be in a future season.

On that note, I wonder if they're building up to Mando becoming the new ruler of Mandalore. He's been "leveling up" all through the show so far, first getting new armor, then a jetpack, and now a beskar spear. I could easily see him getting the darksaber too.

It doesn't seem like there's much time left in this season to properly introduce Boba either. We may just get teases for a while yet.

There's one other Jedi that may be alive, Cal Kestis.

Mace Windu unlikely but may not be dead.

Hope they don't force ghost it.

Yeah, but as I said, a video game character is super unlikely.

And come on, Mace Windu is totally dead.

The ol movie trope of not seeing a body.

Fett was dead as well.

I would say 60% Ezra, 10% Force Ghost, 10% Cal Kestis, 10% Luke, 5% someone new, 3% Rey, 1% old legends character, 1% Mace Windu.

Meh. I don't need to see a body to feel confident that he died.

Rey's not even alive yet at this point in the timeline! The only way that would be possible is if the Lego Star Wars Holiday Special is canon and she uses that Force key thing to go back in time.

Doesn't have to make sense!!! Didn't see RoS?

It would be very strange for them to introduce Bo-Katan and hint at Boba Fett, and not have either one of them make a second appearance in this season. In fact, I can't imagine a finale of this season without Bo-Katan showing up again. Also, I remember the actress stating somewhere that the episode was not the last we've seen of her character. Of course, this could also mean she appears next season, but I expect to see her in the finale.

I kinda expect them to use force ghosts at some point. Maybe to have Hayden make a cameo as Anakin.

I would change one thing about Rogue One...

The lighting.

Since I disliked the movie, I would change a lot.

-I would reduce the number of characters in the movie, and flesh more of them out. We don't need Chirrut and Baze for example.
-I would give more funny lines to the other characters, instead of giving them all to the robot.
-I would remove Jyn's flashback at the start of the movie, and make that a throw away line, since her backstory is so cliché. Instead I'd focus on showing that she is a tough character, instead of telling us that she is.
-Tying into the previous point, I would try and keep the audience in doubt whether Jyn's father is a good or a bad guy. That would add some more suspense to the movie and would be a good dramatic reveal and a character arc for Jyn.
-I would remove all the fan service, such as the 'you'll be dead -guy', R2D2 and C3PO, Darth Vader, Leia and Tarkin. No more silly lava castle and awkward CGI Cushing and CGI Leia. The movie should be able to stand on its own, rather than relying on constant references to the original trilogy.
-I would flesh out Krennic as a more credible villain, instead of undermining his importance by introducing other villains such as Vader and Tarkin. Make up your mind who the villain of the movie is!
-I would remove the entire scene at Vader's lava castle. It does not serve the plot at all, undermines Krennic as a villain, and the lava castle is kinda silly. It only exists for fan service. Does Vader have a lot of fond memories of lava?
-I would remove the weird tentacle scene in the prison cell. What the heck was that?!
-I would either remove every scene with CGI Cushing, or have a real actor play Tarkin instead, such as Charles Dance.
-I would remove the entire scene with CGI Leia at the end and Vader's fan service rampage. Have the movie end as the main characters meet their end.
-I would change the silly way in which Saw Gerrera meets his end. Have him die in a heroic last stand instead, rather than just staying on a planet that is about to be blown up, for no good reason.
-I would add an actual undercover scene for when they enter the base just before the final battle. They have disguises already, have them actually use those to try and pretend to be Imperial officers. This would add more space for character moments and opportunities for humor.
-I would add more stakes to the movie, so we care what happens to the characters. Due to the premise, we already know how it ends. That is something you need to solve as a film maker to make people care about what happens in the film.
-I would add a final battle between the characters and Krennik. The trailer showed a tie fighter, I would add that back in. It seems like 50% of what is shown in the trailer got cut.

I agree. Not just because of timeline and story plot issues, but because of how they would have to CG Mark Hamill to be much younger, which Star Wars is proven to not be good at doing, (for some strange reason. Disney owns both Marvel and Star Wars, so why couldn't they get the same people who did Samuel L. Jackson in Captain Marvel for Rise of Skywalker?)

If they did do Mace Windu, Samuel L. Jackson would actually be about the right age for how old Mace Windu would be at this time.
Mace Windu's death was one of the dumbest that I've seen. I mean, you have a light saber to the neck of a Sith lord and are going to kill him. Do you A) move it forward a few inches and spear him through the neck, or B) take a big wide swing back for some unknown reason and create an opportunity for something bad to happen?

I have seen The Rise of Skywalker. The only bit in that movie that I thought was really nonsensical was the way the Sith dagger's pull-out bit lined up with the shape of the Death Star wreckage. It would have been better if she'd had to draw on the dark side of the Force to have the dagger guide her to the right spot (Inigo Montoya fashion).

Maybe. Depends on how much of a long game they're playing with this series. I mean, we only got the barest of hints of Boba Fett in season 1. Now we've got a glimpse of his face, and Din has his armor. But with only three episodes left to go this season, I'm not sure how they can work Boba back into the story.

While I can see Bo-Katan showing up again to get the darksaber back from Moff Gideon, I expect we'll see the reclamation of Mandalore in a later season. Unless next episode is Tython, and then the last two episodes are the fight for Mandalore.

I doubt we'll ever see Hayden in Star Wars again.

I think some of your criticisms are fair. However, one thing I like about Rogue One is how it harks back to old war movies like The Guns of Navarone and the like. I'm happy with the ensemble cast, and I don't feel like I need to get to know any of them better. It's basically an old-fashioned WW2 movie set in outer space -- which is very much in keeping with a big part of the Star Wars vibe.

For all its CGI warts and strange bits (I agree that the tentacle monster wasn't necessary), it feels like a Star Wars movie to me. It's definitely one of my favorites, right up there with The Empire Strikes Back.

I guess Mace wasn't all that familiar with the stabby-stabby lightsaber style that both Palpatine and his "granddaughter" prefer.

I agree it was a dumb move. While Revenge of the Sith is the best of the prequels, it still leaves a lot to be desired. I like the novelization better myself, although I believe it's now considered Legends material (even though it had GL's stamp of approval).
