D&D (2024) The new warlock (Packet 7)

I'll admit that pre packet 6, I assumed short rests were going to be for HD use and a few minor recharges. Apparently they are going all in. I wonder what that will mean for species like the dragonborn (prof per day or regain on SR) and if classes who don't need them in 2014 (rogues and paladins for example) will now.
Crawford's video said that their goal was to make it so that all classes "felt good" about short resting, but the new barbarian so far doesn't have any SR abilities that I can see. So either they are going to push that in another version or likely won't change it too much for other classes that don't have it.

5. Custom lineage(+2 CHA) + Eldritch adept
You don't need to do that in 5E, all races get a Feat at level 1. But yes worst case scenario you could do that.

Yeah, he's said that, and taken ABSOLUTELY NO ACTION on that front.

It's truly bizarre behaviour. There are obvious way to incentivize every single class into Short Resting, but WotC just refuse to actually do any one of them, whilst repeatedly paying the idea that they should lip-service.

Absolutely loving the new warlock! It's got some glaring balance issues, but overall the class now seems to be in such a good state when it comes down to the base idea.

The subclasses just ooze flavour too. Both thematically and mechanically. Feylock is basically nightcrawler. While changing things to pyshic damage means your goolock can be using psionic armour of agythys which just paints an amazing picture.

The main changes I'd want still are an option for Int instead of Cha when you pick the class. And also a ranged weapon option for bladelocks pact weapons.

I have a gut feeling the monk and warlock are still going to be the ones calling for SR every/other encounter, even if the fighter, cleric and wizard are getting a boon from it too. And the rogue and barbarian will be "nah I'm good."

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
