The newest Iconic... Gimble the Gnomish Bard?

At least he'll have a lame left hand, he's about to catch that dagger point first...

That, and he's got so much crud hanging off of him that monsters are going to use him as a dinner bell. "JINGLE JINGLE JINGLE - here come happy bard snax!"

WAR loses even more stature in my geekdom ranking of artists.

Silence is a bard spell.

And frankly, this is the best WAR pic since the cow goddess in Deities & Demigods. I usually don't like his "comic-style" pics with people having fists twice the size of their head, and feet twice that again, with mouths that don't look like anything at all, and a gaunt, shambling pose like that of a charging zombie in a slapstick movie.

There, he got the proportion right, and the posture also. The dude looks like something. Plus, the shading is very well done. Actually, it's so good I have trouble believing it's a WAR pic. Don't look like his style at all.

But the name is still stupid.

Ack. Gnomes... can't we ever get rid of them as a PC Race? Size them down to Size T and make them Fey. Then they'll be useful.

I was going to make a long-winded answer demonstrating why your are so obviously wrong, but I'm too lazy for it.

Let me introduce Bob. He'll do the job for me.

Enter Bob:

If he was a REAL gnome bard, he'd be using a one-man-band, not some mandolin!

"Hey guys!" *boom!*tsss!*boom!*tsss!*boom!* "What'cha sneakin up on?"

I'm shocked.

Gimble?
Gimble?

Gimble is the name of a gnome in the party that I've been DM'ing for over a year and a half. He's a mechanic that acts more like a dwarf (he thinks other gnomes are silly, and hates his reputation). He's been in a party off Harpers for the past year and a half as a spy for Khelben Blackstaff Arunsun.

Gimble is not a bard. I deny this. Gimble is a mechanically oriented rogue. He's lawful neutral. And he's going to be PISSED that some silly gnomish bard is trying to cash in on his name. That little bard better watch his back... or his front... or anywhere else where Gimble lays some fiendish alchemical trap for him.

Let's see...

Nebin is a gnome.
Naull is a gnome, or is she?
And now Gimble.

So between 3 and 3.5, we have three iconic gnomes... :eek.

I'd liked a gnomette. But Naull is no gnome.

Here's Naull.

And here's the blurb about her:

Naull: Female human Wiz1; Medium-size humanoid; HD 1d4+4; hp 8; Init +2; Spd 30 ft.; AC 12 (touch 12, flat-footed 10); Atk +0 melee (1d6, quarterstaff); or +2 ranged (1d8/19-20, light crossbow); AL N; SV Fort +1, Ref +2, Will +3; Str 10, Dex 14, Con 13, Int 15, Wis 12, Cha 8.

Skills and Feats: Climb +2, Concentration +5, Knowledge (arcana) +6, Spellcraft +6, Spot +3; Point Blank Shot, Scribe Scroll, Toughness

Wizard Spells Prepared: (3/2; base DC = 12 + spell level): 0 -- dancing lights, detect magic, disrupt undead; 1st -- mage armor, sleep.

Spellbook: 0 -- arcane mark, dancing lights, daze, detect magic, detect poison, disrupt undead, flare, ghost sound, light, mage hand, mending, open/close; 1st -- comprehend languages, feather fall, mage armor, magic missile, sleep.

Possessions: Quarterstaff, light crossbow, case with 10 crossbow bolts, spellbook, backpack, waterskin, one day's trail rations, bedroll, sack, flint and steel, 10 candles, map case, 3 pages of parchment, ink, inkpen, spell component pouch, 4 gp.

Description: Naull is a human woman in her mid-twenties. She presents an air of mystery and aloofness that was taught to her by her wizard mentor so that common people would respect magic as more than a common tool. This alienates some people, but she is friendlier with people she knows well. Naull's interest is in learning new things, from magic to mundane lore, so she expects to spend a lot of time searching old caves and ruins for lost books and scrolls. In her adventuring party, Naull provides the magic to defeat several foes at once, relying on the others to protect her when enemies get too close. She keeps Regdar close by to beat up anything that tries to take a bite out of her, but she is aware that he feels awkward around her. She respects Jozan's talents as a priest and his access to church archives of knowledge, which she would like to study some day. Naull feels Lidda is a little crazy because she likes running off alone and doesn't have any armor or magic to protect her, but knows she's an amazing shot with the crossbow.
