The official "End of Farscape Thread"

First Post
Okay, this is where we can really BS and moan about the loss of this show. I know I have been guilty of incorporating my anger into review and discussion threads but it would be nice to have a place to just generally talk about the show.

I'll start things off with a link to an article about the cancellation from savefarscape.com: http://www.watchfarscape.com/news/article.php?newsid=273

Good stuff. I have to say that it gives me slim hope that we still may see more Farscape in the future. :)

Here, Here!!

Farscape is/was one of the three must watch shows I had this season that was canceled. Farscape, Firefly, and Buffy are all gone now (or going soon). That frees up three hours of quality genre t.v. for intelligent viewers that will most likely be replaced with reality t.v. or others shows catering to the lowest common denominator. *sigh*

Well, after *THAT* ending, there had damn well better be something!!!

What the hell kind of ending was that?

Granted, it gave a bittersweet tinge to the unbridled success of the rest of the episode -- which I won't spoil here -- but COME ON!!

I can't live with that kind of ending! I need closure! Arrrrgh.

Not to mention that they're going to replace it with that frelling "Tremors" Bull:):):):). Arrgh. What is it with cancelling the decent series lately???

Oh...

My...

God...

I could just cry. I nearly punched my television when the "To Be Continued..." appeared. I could handle Firefly going away. It wasn't easy but they were just getting into it and beginning their journey. Buffy has been wonderful and they will be able to end it in style and on their own terms.

This is just too much. Yes, it is only a TV show. No, I should not feel angry. I do. After seeing ads for Riverworld, Children of Dune and Tremors: The Series along with the follow-up ads for the season finale of "Stargate: SG1" I find it hard to swallow that sci-fi is getting away from their core programming.

I feel wronged, jaded and most of all simply wounded. One of the true entertainment valves that I have to escape from life is now going unresolved. Not like that. That final image is burned into the back of my skull and I will never forget it. I was disturbed as it happened and I knew there would be some kind of massive cliffhanger I didn't think it would be this bad. They saved the best for last and now we don't get to see the end of the tale.

I have tried to suppress my anger and dissappointment in all of this and it does truly seem silly, especially with all that is going on in our world today. But Farscape didn't even ignore that!! It addressed our problems and gave us hope like nothing since the original Star Trek that as a world we could be better and more than we are now. From the opening episode with John told Aeryn that "she could be more" he might as well have been talking to all of us. Reassuring us that we all have something more inside if we try hard enough.

Actually, as I write this I do feel better. I feel better because the message of the show shouldn't be ignored or forgotten. I've said before that love and hate come from the same place. So I will take the hate and rage I have for the show not being able to continue and try to re-adjust my thinking. It is just a TV show, but I can't ignore what it has done for me which is why I was so upset to begin with.

I may be in the minority here as I started this thread as a place to piss and moan about our collective loss. But, Farscape fans have always been a reasonable bunch. I will write letters and still try to see an ending but if not, it is not all lost as we still have the message. As bittersweet as it is, Farscape has emulated life so well and now in its final hour does so again.

Life goes on for certain. :) Farewell Farscape, and I hope to see you again someday.

Some good news- Or a light on the horizen

This is from the www.farscape.com site. It looks as if there will be some sort of resolution. Probably not any time soon- but it will most likely be there eventually.

"Although SCI FI Channel has chosen not to pick up a fifth season, The Jim Henson Company is in active development on a new Farscape film, an anime project and is currently discussing syndication of this highly acclaimed series. We are eager to move forward with the Farscape creative team in developing new projects that will resonate with our overwhelmingly loyal fan base. "

Ok I never really watched Farscape, but I watched it tonight. That ending totally sucked and the Farscape fans deserve better. I feel for you guys.

Make Sci-Fi Feel It!

I have canceled Sci-Fi channel because of what they did to Farscape. Its easy here since you have to get digital cable just to get Sci-Fi. I highly suggest that people NOT WATCH Dune or anything else on Sci-Fi just to show them. Send them email and snailmail telling them how you feel and why you are purposely not watching their stuff.

There is a lot of crap on TV, but it would not be on TV if nobody watched it. Vote with your remote! Don't watch it!

I would feel so much better if they would of just ended the show one minute earlier. They could of shown the "to be continued" over them in the boat as humans instead of as little cubes and bits. So after all that they just died in a fly by shooting? Yes manyb ethey will get their syndication or their movie or their anime but was any of that dependent on them blowing them to bits? Couldn't they have turned in a show that was a minute short, it's not like Sci Fi would of cared, and most fans would of liked to have it end with them getting married instead of them being blown to bits.

Well at least we have Tremors the series to look forward to......... you know couldn't they at least try to make that show look appealing? The more ads I see for it the worse it looks. That is going to get better ratings than Farscape? I don't want to judge it because of the slot it is taking (it can fail on it's own) but have they gone mad at Sci Fi. That show looks like crap, maybe the ads are just poorly made but good grief, this is crazy. I thought the point was they wanted better ratings at that time slot.

My thoughts on why this was a perfect end for Farscape:

The entire show has always been about never having the right time, for any of the cast and crew. Whenever it seems like they might have a bit of hope, a bit of brightness, some tragedy befalls them. Even so, these people, all varied and yet all suspicious, came together to form the bonds of friendship (even Rygel). Through that friendship they've been able to weather every storm that has come their way. It seems fitting that the show ends not with the peacefulness that drifts them apart but with the tragedy that brings them together.
