The Old School: AD&D 1e

"Pleased to meet you Professor Raffles. I am Lidia, a druidess. Sorry but I am not in a position to take a permanent position at the moment. However, I may be interested in a commission to bring back some stinkflower. Also, is the sinkflower's location anywhere near the mine that my friends seem interested?"

"Undead? A fortunate thing the good priest is here to lend assistance. I wonder though... It is not natural for skeletons to rise of their own free will. Perhaps there is some force or person who wants control of the mine for reasons unknown."

Looking to his new companions and old classmates, Zhantain says "I am ready to go now, if any of you have things to gather we can met at the road leading out of town."

He then asks Dulon Thrax for the specific location of the mine and if he has any reports as to the numbers of the infestation.

"A foul tale indeed. I shall depart with haste, these undead will be crushed and whoever is behind it brought to justice."

Amirad would like to depart as soon as is feasible (OCC I'm not sure what time of day it is). He proposes stopping by the temple of Solinar to purchase some holy water, and offers his two platinum towards that cause.
"Other than that I am prepared to leave."
"Lidia, I hope you will join us. The undead are an unatural abomination. I know you don't care for mines, but you skills would be invaluable. If there are other missions you wish to complete, I would gladly aid you at a later date."

Amirad will return the torn down notices to the barkeep if none immediately catch his eye.

"I agree with you Amirad that some blessed water may be of great use. I will gladly contribute at least one of these platinum pieces towards the cost. Do you happen to know what the charge is likely to be?"

Mo profers a coin to Amirad and looks at the others with interest.

"You may also take one of my coins for the holy water fund."

(OOC: I believe it is mid morning, but others have thought it night. An official ruling would be good.)

"At home the cost was around 25g.p. or 5 platinum. Unless my brothers deem that this cause is a truly worthy one we require one more p.p." Amirad informs Little Mo and the group.
"Perhaps my cousin would be willing to go with me to the temple and provide the extra coin if necessary. Have you visited the Temple yet?"

"Very good, glad to hear that you are all interested! Here's your platinum, and use it well! I'm looking for the mine to be cleared of all undead. If you can figure out what's causing them, please, let me know. This stop in production is bad for business."

Dolun Thrax hands a map to the mine along with identification papers. He turns to his guards, and the entourage leaves. He tosses a gold to Charles. "Good morning!" he calls as he leaves.

"Hmm, past the mine? Oh, yes, it's about a day's travel, in that direction. It's past all the mine activity, where the hillside remains covered with the forest. The path should take you straight past it. In fact, here's a map of the general area, and the formation that allows for the microclimate. Once you reach the Thrax family mine, follow the valley floor until you find the waterfall, then travel west. The forest floor will be thick here, good humidity, yet low wind."

Amirad looks over the notices. One mentions a lost dog. One looks for extra players for regular games of ninepins. One is a poem. None directly ask for adventurers.

Hulan quickly pockets the platinum, "Perhaps I can have one of the priests make a payment for me..." and moves to Lidia to engage her in conversation at the first talk of pooling funds as an attempt to deflect call for additional coin, "I was engaged with Dolun, I did not catch what you learned. Well do tell, what of the stinkflower. Where is it located, What of the pay??"

"Excellent, I will speak with the priests."

(Assuming Lidia tells us what she learned.)

"Well that is quite convenient, perhaps we should be ready for a slightly longer trip. I can't help but think that a pack animal might be of use, unfortunately none of my uncles own animals came on this trip. Ah well, shall we depart presently?" Amirad says to everyone.

Once the others have given their assent (or possibly not) Amirad will go to purchase the Holy water.

(OCC I'm alright with skipping forward to 'you travel for a while and reach the mines')
