I don't make excuses for my messageboards writing.
You might want to consider a few. Dude, that was just painful to read. It's like some weird stream of consciousness from the hive mind. :)

Oh, and if you've never seen an out-your-ass RPG.net review, of which there are tons, then you must have just discovered the Internet yesterday. ;)

Onto the topic, I personally don't put much (read: nearly any) weight into reviews, in particular PDF reviews. The PDF community is so small that's it's hard not to view it as "jobs for the boys." Also, as others have pointed out, no reviewer control is a big warning sign; if Joe Anybody can write a review (ie. RPG.net) then you have to view said review with a healthy amount of suspicion.

Also, so many reviews are "reading reviews" that don't actually use the product. For some people that's fine ("I don't need to see 'Steath' to know that it's a crap movie!") but actual play is where it's at, IMO.

It's taken years of painful purchases to come to the realization that the best review for me, is the one I do myself: picking up and leafing through the product, seeing it firsthand. In the case of a PDF, a sample to download and view.

Okay, while its great to give some publishers direct feed back to cokmments they post on message boards, I'd really like to keep this thread on track for my little project. Thanks :D

I apologize for not reviewing the latest book yet Crothian....Will try to have it up by wednesday.

How much is left out there for d20 modern? Since Adamant and Ronin Arts pulled out, it seems like the only bigger publisher left is RPGObjects.

I wouldn't mind reviewing a few products, but since my genre is rather limited - and the publishers that do them have bowed out - I don't know if there's much left for me to do. I don't want to review RPGO stuff only because I know many of the staffers there and I am likely a fanboy of Chuck's work which isn't the kind of review I'm sure we want to have.

Let me know what kind of stuff (generally) is still available for modern, and if there's stuff that I feel I can objectively review I will send you an email.

Thanks.

Don't worry about it. Actually a lot of people might be doing these too fast. I usually read a book at least twice when I'm reviewing. I try to take my taime and comprehend everything. And after the review is written its is best to save it to disk and walk away from it for a while before rereading it and make sure it reads oka. Self editing is not fun and that can help.

Ya, there's some stuff if you perfer d20 modern. Could you write a review though of something you have on your owqn gaming self first? I'm trying to get people to do that first. Thanks.

I think I have one up over at RPGnow...Haven: City of Violence, if you want to take a peek at that one. At the time it wasn't listed as a product over here so I didn't copy/paste it. I'll look into finding out if it's up.

It's more then to see what you can do others who have written many reviews are beign asked to do the same thing.

I sent you an email Crothian, so let me know if you need any additional help.

The reviews section is one the more outstanding parts of this site, and I've counted on it more times than I can remember.
