Well, no, fighting a dragon is obviously nuts. But if I were going to do it, I wouldn't pick something that is as close to useless as I can imagine.
A strong, thin blade is probably your best bet.l, actually. Get between those scales.

If you are an Elf Lord or something similar, I mean.
 

From reading about the Grey Mouser, it can be an effective weapon against pretty much any enemy.

Edited to add: the Mouser did encounter a dragon, but he tried to steal from it rather than fight it.

I've spent a lot of time in the kitchen and I just picture the tip snapping off. Also, can you get it deep enough to do damage? Even something intended for boar hunting would be almost underpowered.
