The Running Man | Official Trailer

Not particularly. Glen;'s hammy performance was the only thing I enjoyed. Flick had major act 3 problems too.
I don't notice plot holes and the such in most things I watch. I liked Jenni. I liked how Amelia's eyes were opened pretty quickly after seeing the truth. I wish it were that easy with more people. If there's not a sequel subtitled Richards Lives I'll be very disappointed. The reluctant hero returns to continue the fight.

I wonder if this is the problem. The original movie went full of OTT ham, and was good for that. But to be it's own thing this version needed to be a serious social commentary. But it ended up falling between both stools and succeeding as neither.

I thought the social commentary was just enough. Go too far and it becomes too preachy. Don't go far enough and it gets drowned out. I was kind of pumped up by the end of the movie. It wasn't just the action. Deep fakes, false narratives, and fake news are becoming more and more common and effective. Look at the shooting in Minneapolis. Both sides have a hero and a villain. Why does there have to be a both sides to everything these days? I really hope more people start to question what they see in the media. I'm not getting my hopes up about the movie Mercy but I think it could be another piece of commentary on society.

Totally agreed, though yous aid it clearer than anything that came to mind for a post. When the original came out, a lot of what was happening to him from a tech perspective was unimaginable. But now...

And the gonzo parts helped to leaven it a bit.

I rewatched the Arnie one recently and was shocked how prescient it was. I did not recall The Running Man predicting both the internet and wifi, for instance.
