The Sci-Fi Channel

Well, it seems to me that this channel only seems to air about three shows that are a series and are Sci-Fi. Those being Stargate, Farscae and Lexx. It could be four if you counted Stargate:Atlantis as a separate series. But, with the excepton of SG, all of these air really late. It seems all the channel ever shows is movies about some really big animal or a paranormal show, or Scare Tactics.

So, what is the deal with that?

And Star Trek. And the X-files. And Quantum Leap.

Really big animals movies are science fiction.

Not very imaginative (anymore, anyway) science fiction. But science fiction.

I suppose that could apply to the Baldwins, and thus Scare Tactics counts, too.

But yeah, it's not very good at "Science Fiction".

There really needs to be 4 channels. The Science Fiction Channel, the Horror channel, the Fantasy Channel, and the Paranormal channel.

Woops, I dont consider Quantum Leap Science Fiction, but that is just me. :)

I just wish they would air more good Science Fiction, and put them on at a better time. Staying up till 3 AM to watch Lexx is a bit taxing on my body. :p

It reminds me of a discussion a friend and I had a few years ago. SciFi Channel has generally become less scifi -- heck, it barely shows even BAD scifi -- and has become more of the action-adventure PG13 channel.

While it's not bad, you get the feeling that them pushing Scare Tactics and Ghost Hunters etc, and showing things like 13th Warrior, goes reeeeally far afield. While I enjoy the 13th Warrior, I don't think in any way, shape or form it's scifi.

battlestar galactica and earthsea are about to show up. But ya, its not all that great. Like most stations, channels and TV stuff in general. God bless TiVO and series on DVD. I hate broadcast media.

Aaron.

I hate the SCI-FI channel. With a passion.

As for QLeap, I think I guy that skips across time and space inhabiting other bodies would deff. be considered science fiction...by anyone's standards.

As for "good sci-fi" I sure as heck certainly wouldn't put Lexx in that category, ever, but that's just me.

As for SF channel, they should rename themselves "stoopid sci-horror-realty-idiocy"...

Heh, well I like Lexx and hate QL, so it is a difference of opinion. :)

I used to think Scare Tactics was entertaining, now it is just boring.

Sure, but how could QL be considered anything but sci-fi? Just cos you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't part of the genre. That would be like me saying the Wheel of Time isn't fantasy...
