The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

"I think we should do our checks on the hotel and the office", Ryland says, intending to walk to the Tower Inn first

"I agree. I doubt we'll be able to do anything useful tonight." Devlin thanks the bridadier, leaving enough coins on the table to cover their drinks plus another one for their guest.

ooc: back to the Tower Inn it is.

Devlin and Ryland left the seedy pub by the docks and made their way back to the cleaner and more proper part of town where the Tower Inn was located. They made it there just before the now familiar cry of, "Twelve O'Clock, and all's well!" Things were starting to wind down in the common room as they entered the building. The innkeeper was giving orders to one of the servants who was helping clean the place.

Ryland approaches the innkeeper, " You haven't seen any of our associates tonight have you. Perhaps one of them left us a message?"

"Can't say that I have", replied the man. "And no messages for ye, either."

Devlin lets out a sigh of discontent as they return to their room. "Well, today has definitely been a bummer. I hope something happens tomorrow to improve our position."

OOC:This is my last post until the 16th. I'm headed on a brief vacation. Feel free to NPC my character.

'Something has to break soon. We need to find the killer, and if we can make some coin form the orb...", Ryland says.

OoC: Well, so much for timing. This is about the perfect storm as far as in-game and out-of-game things coming togther in an awkward way.

Honestly, I was hoping (and half-expecting) Ryland to swing things a certain way at this point. Had he done so, and had we gone just a day or two further, we'd have reached a great cliffhanger-type stopping point for Salix's vacation.

Now, given that he didn't do what I expected him to do, things will swing along a similar but slightly different path. Eventually, circumstances will swing the party to a similar point...sort of like climbing the same mountain, but by a different face than originally planned.

My problem is that this path has a little of the feeling of a fait accompli. I wouldn't have a problem with that if both of you were active. But with Salix out for nearly a fortnight, I'd feel uncomfortable moving the action around when he's not around. I'd feel even more uncomfortable doing so using his character as a prop.

Dungannon, I guess what I'm saying here is, how do you feel about putting things on hold for a couple of weeks? You guys have been great about keeping up the pace, and I'm acutely aware that there hasn't been a ton of combat, gold, or xp. We've literally been building up for months for what happens next, and I think it would be a shame to spoil it. But if you prefer to continue, I can manage that.

And Salix, I know you've officially given 12 days notice, but if you should wander past an Internet cafe or a good wireless hotspot during that time...
