Devlin immediately shuts the door and takes in the situation. After making sure Eppy is ok he searches the dead man's body for anything that might provide a clue as to his identity or where he came from.

"Ryland, be careful with that thing. It's much more dangerous than it looks."

"Ryland, be careful with that thing. It's much more dangerous than it looks."
Ryland looks up, a little shamefaced at letting his greed get ahead of his common sense, "What do you want to do next? Should we bring Vagan in? Should we sell this thing to the highest bidder? Any thoughts on who the killer is?"

After searching the man's body thoroughly, one significant clue emerged as to his identity. Devlin found a well-work scrap of paper, folded several times but carefully stored in a little leather portfolio. It read:

Know all men by these Presents:

The bearer of this document, one

Captain Henri Jacobin

Is the true owner and sailing master of the ship

The Flying Lion

Drawn by my hand and Constructed by my Company
A merchant of 150 tonnes, two masts, built of Oak
In my yards in the port of Monemvassia
Signed,

Shipwright Ciran Magnissian

Ryland looks at Devlin as if something just occurred to him for the first time, "Alright, the captain here delivered this to the office. Brigit mentioned that it would be arriving soon. There are only really two things that could have happened . The first, Archer had a side deal to get the orb, and Brigit tried to intercept it. I know you think she's okay, but we should consider all our options. She really hasn't been forthcoming. Still..it's unlikely since Archer only found out about the orb a few days ago. The second is that this is Brigit's delivery boy, and someone tried to get him before he made the delivery. If that's the case, our client might also be dead. I think we should hole up here until she shows up, or our buyers come with the coin."

OoC: Well, that's complicated. In a race, without relays of horses, the ship would be faster. But people traveling overland make stops, and ships might make stops along the coast, too. Either could be faster, depending on the circumstances.

Devlin faces Ryland. "To be honest, you and Eppy are the only ones I do trust right about now." He replaces the paper on the Captain's body.

"Eppy, go fetch the Watch. This needs to be reported. But don't mention the orb or us. Ryland, I think we should head to the docks. Information on the Flying Lion just became a top priority."
