The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

Dungannon said:
Devlin faces Ryland. "To be honest, you and Eppy are the only ones I do trust right about now." He replaces the paper on the Captain's body.

"Eppy, go fetch the Watch. This needs to be reported. But don't mention the orb or us. Ryland, I think we should head to the docks. Information on the Flying Lion just became a top priority."

"Good thinking, the watch needs to see it, but I don't think we need to be here. Maybe you can carry the orb though, it's probably a little heavy for me. I think we should find Brigit, but starting with a little clue from the flying lion would be good. What exactly are you looking to find there? If nothing else shows up I'd like to see if she's hiding out at her old room in the Coronet.", Ryland says, then after a pause, "Maybe we should follow Eppy at a distance to make sure she meets with the guard safely, then we can head for the docks"

OOC: escort Eppy from a comfortable distance, then head to the docks...seems like a plan

The pair formulated their plans, letting Eppy in on the part that she was to play. Just as they were preparing to leave, they heard footsteps on the creaky stairs outside the door.

"Devlin, stash the orb. Eppy find a safe place to hide. We might have trouble here."

OOC:Ryland prepares himself to cast a spell if neccessary.

Devlin decided that there were no outstanding hiding places in Archer's office, since a thorough search would likely turn up everything in the room sooner or later. On the other hand, he figured out a way to pile some papers around it in one of the cabinets on the wall, in such a way that it would take a thorough search to find it.

After hiding the orb as best he can, Devlin loads his crossbow, opens the door to the outer waiting area and motions for Ryland to take a position near the door to the outside.

As the brave adventurers hunkered down in the relative safety of what cover the office could provide, the innocent secretary opened the door, abandoned to the ravages of who or whatever was lurking on the other side.

It was a hideous creature...a street urchin expecting to be paid for delivering a message.

Of course, the young lad was quite wide-eyed at the scene that was presented to him, not to mention the crossbow pointed in his direction.
