The Stuff of Dreams (Orsal Judging)

[sblock=Enialis, Ryland: ]Brimbor appeared perplexed by the accusation. "You can't be serious", he suggested. "I seek only the recovery of that which is missing. Now, since you are concealing it here, I assumed that either of you would rather part with it than be subject to the pain of an arrow. But if you'll note that there are two of you, you must be aware, yes?, that this would be a terrible way to initiate a double murder." After letting this sink in a moment, he continued. "Now would you be so kind as to release me from this...this...silliness?", he asked as he glanced over his bonds again.[/sblock]

"I'd like to ask you a few more questions then we'll let you go", Ryland says as he begins to cast Hypnotism one more time.
"What is the ornament? Why is it important?"
"Who is Wilbur and Kamdar"
"Where can we find them?"
"Are Eppy or Archer's wife involved? "

OOC: We'll get as many questions answered as we can, depending on what we hear, we'll probably turn him over to Vagan for more info.[/sblock]

[sblock=El Jefe: ]Devlin shakes his head slightly as the brusque rebuttal and walks away without another word. Gods, I hate authority figures, he thinks to himself as he sets out to find his companions. They wanted to talk to Mrs. Archer, but I don't think they know where she lives. Where would they get that info? Ah, yes, Eppy. Devlin smiles to himself for his deductive skills and heads off to the office.[/sblock]

"What...are you using magic on me...no!", exclaimed Brimbor as he turned to face away from Ryland's spellcasting.[sblock=Rule stuff: ]I'm taking this as a use of the spell in combat, since it's pretty obvious to Brimbor what's going on, and it would be fairly easy for him to disrupt the spell if he were not bound. Really, if you think about it, this is no different than using the spell against someone who is on the other side of a room, loading a crossbow to shoot you. I'd consider a "non-combat" use of the spell to be one where you're sitting across a table just having a chat with someone...playing cards or whatever. The bondage and interrogation is what sets this apart from that.

Er, and thanks to the modifiers (really the lack of modifiers in your favor), it's obvious that Brimbor made his save.[/sblock]It seems apparent that Ryland's spell had no effect on the man, save to make him distrust the pair even more.[/sblock]

Dr. Livingston, I presume?

By the time Devlin reached "his" new office, the sun had set. Would Eppy still be there? He thought it unlikely but decided to try anyway. He ascended the creaking stairs to find the door unlocked, but as he entered the outer office, he noticed that Eppy's desk was vacant. Glancing into the inner office, he beheld a strange sight: Ryland standing on Archer's old chair, apparently casting a spell at someone out of view inside. A voice he didn't recognize was exclaiming, "What...are you using magic on me?...No!"[/sblock][sblock=Ryland: ]Just as the gnome determined that the spell was having no effect on the captive elf, he heard a noise in the outer office. Looking through the doorway, he spied Devlin closing the door to the stairs behind him, with a very puzzled look on his face.[/sblock]

[sblock= El Jefe, Ryland: ]if what you are saying is true and the ornament you seek is here. Why did you wait for us to get here. Eppy told us you had been sitting here for a little bit before we arrived. Why wouldn't you pull your crossbow on her while it was just you and her here hmm?[/sblock]

Devlin entered the inner office to find Ryland and Enialis interrogating a somewhat foppish elf, bound securely with rope to one of the chairs in what had been Archer's office. The elf answered, "Most people would not leave such an...ornament with the help. I was hoping you'd be reasonable about returning it. I do not like to resort to force, but you left me no choice." Spying Devlin, he addressed the newcomer directly. "Good evening, Mr.? Would you please talk some sense into them? There is no need for me to be tied up like this."

oh hello Devlin, this man came in here looking to get an ornament back, he originally offered us a job which he still says is open for 5000 Dragons for its return.

Enialis explains what he's been told so far.

What are your thoughts Devlin?
