The Tol Haggerun Prophecy - 3.5 D&D [Ended]

OOC: Raster won't be around much longer unfortunately.
OOC: I meant that I would do so during the few days we'd been traveling together.
Raster smiles as Jacoby makes the final ascent. "Well, young hero," he says. "You've made it to what some call the first threshold. I dunno about stuff like that."
Well that makes two of us then.
"But here we are at the plateau. I've no doubt you'll recognize this place." Jacoby sees before him a large, flat, snow-covered plateau. The far side is sparsely forested, and there is a small building adjacent to the trees.
Jacoby sets eyes on the small building, the chapel from his dream, just a little farther away then he remembers.
"This is where we part ways, Jacoby," Raster says. "You have great things ahead of you, Bahamut willing."
Jacoby blushes and swallows several times while trying to catch his breath. "Well, ah, thanks for all your help Raster. You're the kindest and most helpful bear I've ever met. I, ah, don't really know what else to say..."
Raster's ears perk up and he sniffs the air. "I think you've got company." The bear points a large paw towards a figure with a horse standing a few hundreds yards from Jacoby's position.
Jacoby turns to look in the indicated direction. He squints to see through the glare of the white snow underfoot. He turns to ask Raster who it is only to discover the bear gone.
The bear rumbles away, down the mountain trail and out of view, leaving Jacoby and Amber alone to ponder their next actions.
Jacoby once again raises a hand to wave to this latest sudden departure of an unusual guide. "Uh. Bye Raster!" Jacoby calls out after the departing creature. Turning once more towards the distant stranger, Jacoby slowly wraps Amber's leash around his hand and starts to walk towards the human. I wonder what this one's going to be like. With my luck it's the horse who's going to be the talkative one. Well, horse or human, I sure hope this guide is going to be willing to answer some questions. I'm getting pretty tired of this divine mystery routine. C'mon Lady. Jacoby says to Amber. When he's a few dozen yards away from the armored human Jacoby raises a hand high over his head and calls out: "Hi! I'm Jacoby..." The hin lowers his hand uncertainly. "...from Amberlea." he says as he jerks a thumb over his shoulder. "This here is Amber..." he says motioning to his dog mount. "She doesn't talk, uh, at least not yet... So you're another guide of the Great Dragon right?" he finishes uncertainly.

Sharma | At Mokkar and Aboard the Just Looking

Jaroth smiles. "The druids?" he asks. "Once we get to Hrux, they can be found most likely on Rudbury Hill, not far north of the port district."

The dwarf takes Sharma aside. "I wouldn't travel too far from the ship right now, though. Mokkar is a dangerous place for one such as yourself. Stick to the docks, and even then, keep your wits about you. We'll be leaving here for the mainland before too long."

Sharma nods at the dwarf's warnings, he'll pop up onto the edge of the boat and dangle his feet enjoying the sun and trying to keep himself out of the way, although giving everyone that his eyes meet a broad, endearing smile accompanied by the occasional "hello".

Misha lets the little man approach; he looks down curiously at the hin, “A child? Out this far in the mountains, a test perhaps,” he says aloud, “well little girl what test do you represent? Are you here to test my wisdom or my temperance? I have passed the test of strength,” he grins letting the words hang in the air.

He crouches down, “This is no place for a wee girl though, even if you have ‘armor’ and weapons; but luck is with you little one I will be your guide, though a great dragon is no place for you. Your parents must be worried sick about you,” he finishes.

Shuelsai Deng | Island of Marvoe, off the Coast of Lurien

One villager, a woman named Jessa, tells Shuelsai that there is a Shrine to the Great Mother to be found in the mountains. Of the villagers, only the Hermit is permitted to go there. The rest stay away out of fear that the Great Mother will be upset.
"Thank you Mistress Jessa, could you tell me the way?" Shuelsai says, discounting the apparent danger. If the rude man keeps the People away from the Mother's shrine then he must surely be an evil blight indeed. Perhaps once he ventured to the shrine Mother would clear everything up, and let Shuelsai go home to his children. He just hoped his hut was still in one piece!

With or without instructions, Shuelsai gets in his boat and poles or tows it upriver with the thought that the river must surely lead toward the mountain or at least into the highlands surrounding the mountain. Plus, if he left his boat in the village the hermit would surely burn it, steal it, or plant asps underneath his sleeping mat.

More determined than ever, Shuelsai finishes his preparations and leaves the village to find the shrine on the mountain. Perhaps after he defeated the evil hermit and freed the shrine for the villagers to enjoy the teachings of the Mother she would at least find him a woman, one with wide hips and good teeth. Shuelsai mused upon the perfection of life, and cast off.

Jacoby frowns in confusion at the human's odd words. It speaks Lur... and it doesn't apear to be terribly bright either for a human or a Dragon guide. Well there are plenty of stories of dumb giant-kin; I guess they have to come from somewhere. At least the bear and the dragon knew what they were about. I hope this one doesn't expect me to feed it too.

After a few moments of puzzling over the human's words, Jacoby switches to Lur and speaks loudly, simply and deliberately for the apparently slow-witted human's benefit. "YOU LOOK VERY BIG AND STRONG SIR. YOU MUST HAVE DONE VERY WELL ON YOUR 'TEST OF STRENGTH' BUT I..." Jacoby gestures emphatically at himself. "...AM NOT A TEST, A CHILD OR A GIRL. I MAY LOOK LIKE A CHILD TO A BIG GIANT-KIN LIKE YOU..." Jacoby points emphatically at the human. "...BUT I..." Jacoby gestures emphatically at himself once more "...AM A GROWN-UP MAN LIKE YOU." Jacoby points emphatically at the human again. "NOW I AM GOING TO THAT BUILDING THERE..." Jacoby points emphatically at the little chapel nearby. "...BECAUSE A GREAT DRAGON GOD TOLD ME TOO. OKAY? DO YOU WANT TO COME WITH ME AND MY DOG?" Jacoby gestures emphatically at Amber and then again towards the chapel and then mimes walking while smiling encouragingly.

Misha furrows his brow, “Well okay that sounds interesting, so you are a grown man? Why do you grow so small, I mean, you are just a mere waif of a man. And your dog looks mighty fearsome,” he shakes his head and follows, “so there isn’t a dragon to slay… how disappointing. Now that would have been a challenge truly worthy of me. But I suppose this is just as good, I mean one could not expect a man as tiny as you to live long without my blade.”

“Please call me Burning Rose,” Misha replies.

Jacoby appears pleased that that the human seems to be getting the idea and smiles nervously. Who knew that the bear would be the smart one of this trio. Oh well, I guess I'm not going to get any answers from this one either. Which of us is supposed to be the guide here? Jacoby motions for his large companion to follow him and waits for the human to start moving its bulk before setting out himself. Seeming to be getting through to the big lug, Jacoby tries speaking at a normal tone again:"My kind don't grow bigger than this." Jacoby gestures towards himself again. "I'm actually a tall-fellow, just not as tall as you." Jacoby points emphatically at the human again.

Jacoby smiles and nods as if agreeing with the giant-kin. "Yes, this dragon is our friend. Its name is Bahamut. We don't slay our friends." The hin shakes his head and sighs softly as they set out towards the chapel. I'm not going to be the one to tell this big guy that I ended up having to bury the last human I knew who fought a dragon; Gods bless his memory.

Jacoby nods and smiles up at his human companion. Burning Rose? What an odd name. I guess its a giant thing. Indicating himself again he reminds his 'guide': "My name is Jacoby. Jaa-cob-eee"

Ralan | With the House Myrrkal Caravan, Abils Fields, Lurien

OOC: The camp is nearly empty. Ralan gets the sense that survivors from the attack may be returning soon, hopefully badly wounded and without much booty. That remains to be seen.

Avrick vanishes into a tent, and Ralan cannot see inside from where he is. The wagon is just about ready to roll, with Talia tied up and thrown in with a bunch of supplies, bound for who-knows-where.

As he nears the covered wagon, Ralan does not see any guards. The hobgoblins who had been guarding the wagon have moved to the front and jumped into the drivers' perch. There are a few other random goblins and hobgoblins near the wagon, but there might be a chance for Ralan to move to the wagon without being seen.

As Ralan ponders his next move, the wagon lurches forward and begins to leave the camp!

Since both talia and Avrik are with the wagon, Ralan will move to the wagon and follow it. if he can do this without getting close, he will. His goal will be to get to Avrik when he is not expecting it so he can save Talia.

“Jacoby?” Misha replies, “what kind of name is Jacoby, I expected better from a sidekick but perhaps it is fitting being so small you would need a name that does not draw attention to you. Now don’t be so hasty little man, because I had a dream of this place and dark forces held it… you may make friends with dragons however ridiculous that sounds but I like to err on the side of caution.”

Misha draws Honor and rests the blade on his shoulder, “Tell me Jacoby are the women of your small tribe as tall as you?” he walks towards the building.

“Jacoby?” Misha replies, “what kind of name is Jacoby, I expected better from a sidekick but perhaps it is fitting being so small you would need a name that does not draw attention to you.
What is a sidekick? Jacoby looks away from the human and rolls his eyes in frustration. It seemed the giant-kin wasn't just slow but also becoming obnoxious. I am not a "sidekick"; my people are called "hin". And 'Jacoby was my great-grandfather's name. It's a good name.
Now don’t be so hasty little man, because I had a dream of this place and dark forces held it… you may make friends with dragons however ridiculous that sounds but I like to err on the side of caution.”
He had a dream about this place? Like me? Perhaps he's not supposed to be a guide after all. That would explain his behavior somewhat. Oh don't worry about the dark force, I already met it in another chapel...[/I] Jacoby points down the mountain towards the west. ...and it was helpful. It sent me a green dragon to help guide me here. Jacoby points towards the small chapel.
Misha draws Honor and rests the blade on his shoulder,
Jacoby looks up nervously as the giant-kin draws a sword twice the length of a man. The hin unconsciously puts a few extra feet of distance between he and his companion as they walk.
“Tell me Jacoby are the women of your small tribe as tall as you?”
My "tribe" isn't small, we have three villages and many homesteads in our township and the women are about the same height as me; maybe a bit shorter.
