The Tol Haggerun Prophecy - 3.5 D&D [Ended]

Jacoby looks away from the human and rolls his eyes in frustration. It seemed the giant-kin wasn't just slow but also becoming obnoxious. I am not a "sidekick"; my people are called "hin". And 'Jacoby was my great-grandfather's name. It's a good name.

"Oh," Misha says, "well then I suppose I can guess that is fine."

My "tribe" isn't small, we have three villages and many homesteads in our township and the women are about the same height as me; maybe a bit shorter.

"Well that is just a waste of woman, so small although..." he thinks and then grins, "you have any sisters?" he jokes, "enough idle chatter wee man, always distracting me. Tell me you know how to use those little knives?" he gestures at Jacoby's weapons.

Jacoby shoots the obnoxious giant-kin an angry glare but says nothing. The thought of this brute with one my sisters... The hin shudders.
"enough idle chatter wee man, always distracting me. Tell me you know how to use those little knives?" he gestures at Jacoby's weapons.
"Little knives"?... I don't have any "knives" and only a single blade; my sword is as tall as a man and once belonged to a great knight and my lance is taller than you! I wonder if this giant can say more than two words that aren't insulting or just plain dumb. In frustration, Jacoby just raises a hand and says: Please Mister Rose, just, please don't talk. Bahamut help me... Jacoby continues to walk towards the chapel with Amber in tow.

“Don’t talk? Oh come now Jacoby, speech is what separates us thinking beings, even you small ones, from the stupid beasts. Besides I have been on the road for days, with no company besides my steed, and she does not talk much,” he sighs.

“I was hoping to aid a buxom virgin in distress, but you will do just as fine,” he jokes, “and no offense little knight, I just have not seen people as small you hin.”

"Not in my experience it isn't." Jacoby murmurs to himself.

Jacoby worriedly throws the "burning" man a sidelong glance, concerned that the hin would compare favorably with a "buxom virgin" in the giant-kin's eyes. Perhaps it's not my sisters I should be worried about. The hin nervously puts a few more steps of distance between himself and the lusty human. "Uh... Look... ah... Bernie..." Jacoby uneasily coughs a few times. Oh Bahamut, what manner of depraved creature have you sent to me? Now I wish the horse had been the talkative one.

Ralan

Ralan | With the House Myrrkal Caravan, Abils Fields, Lurien

Steve Gorak said:
Since both talia and Avrik are with the wagon, Ralan will move to the wagon and follow it. if he can do this without getting close, he will. His goal will be to get to Avrik when he is not expecting it so he can save Talia.

Ralan shouldn't have too much trouble following the wagon. It's slow and traveling up a hilly path.

I'm going assume that you are going to follow...

The wagon travels slowly and with a rickety gait up the winding path through the low hills of the Averend Range. The hills here have a reddish tint to them, suggesting perhaps a high iron content. Ralan has little trouble staying up with the wagon, which even on flat ground is not really designed for speed.

As he follows, Ralan notes that there are four guards in the back of the wagon, none of whom appear to have seen the Rogue following the wagon up the hilly path. In the front of the wagon are two men and Avrick. Talia is in the back of the wagon with the four guards, along with several crates and sacks.

Hills turn to mountains as Ralan continues to follow. It's nightfall now, and the wagon stops to camp. Ralan notes that Avrick says an odd prayer of some kind as the others set up camp, and he is careful about stepping inside the rough circle of the camp when he has completed his prayer. The men look about casually, but aren't really keeping a watch per se.

Sharma

Sharma | Aboard the Just Looking and at Hrux

Ferrix said:
Sharma nods at the dwarf's warnings, he'll pop up onto the edge of the boat and dangle his feet enjoying the sun and trying to keep himself out of the way, although giving everyone that his eyes meet a broad, endearing smile accompanied by the occasional "hello".

Sharma finds many of the passersby to be rather surly and not talkative at all. He spots sailors, of course, but along with those, porters, packers, shipbuilders working on repairs, and the occasional Mitean military patrol. Some women pass by as well, and seem to want Sharma to come down from the ship, offering to 'show him a good time'.

While Sharma waits for the ship to be resupplied, he learns that Mokkar has been hit by several pirate attacks in the recent days, and Mitea has increased their military patrols as a result.

Unless Sharma wants to do anything else, the Just Looking leaves Mokkar later that day, headed for the mainland and the port city of Hrux, the main sea trading city of the Mitean Empire.

OOC: I'm going to have the rest of the journey pass uneventfully so we can move things along. If Sharma would do anything else on the trip, let me know, and we'll add it in of course.

Closing in on the port city after only a few days, Sharma is surprised at the sheer number of trading and military ships in the Hruxi harbor. The navigator earns his pay by weaving a deft path through this mass of nautical mess, and the Just Looking arrives unharmed and on time at the port city without incident.

The ship is unloaded, and Sharma is escorted, along with his Dwarven friend, to the portside docks, to do what they will in Hrux while the sailors take care of business.

Shuelsai

Shuelsai Deng | Island of Marvoe, off the Coast of Lurien

James Heard said:
"Thank you Mistress Jessa, could you tell me the way?" Shuelsai says, discounting the apparent danger. If the rude man keeps the People away from the Mother's shrine then he must surely be an evil blight indeed. Perhaps once he ventured to the shrine Mother would clear everything up, and let Shuelsai go home to his children. He just hoped his hut was still in one piece!

With or without instructions, Shuelsai gets in his boat and poles or tows it upriver with the thought that the river must surely lead toward the mountain or at least into the highlands surrounding the mountain. Plus, if he left his boat in the village the hermit would surely burn it, steal it, or plant asps underneath his sleeping mat.

More determined than ever, Shuelsai finishes his preparations and leaves the village to find the shrine on the mountain. Perhaps after he defeated the evil hermit and freed the shrine for the villagers to enjoy the teachings of the Mother she would at least find him a woman, one with wide hips and good teeth. Shuelsai mused upon the perfection of life, and cast off.

Jessa is curious. "I would not presume to ask, Stranger, why you wish to travel to the Shrine, but I will say that I doubt your seagoing vessel will make it far up river. It narrows quite a bit not less than a quarter mile from the shore. You will probably need to moor your ship in the lagoon. You will find an old dock there left over from the people who used to live here on Marvoe before our people came."

She pauses momentarily.

"You could probably use a guide," Jessa adds. "I am not as familiar with the back country as our huntsmen... but perhaps I can be of assistance in other ways."

Before following the Wagon, Ralan will try to see if he can steal a crossbow and bolts from the camp. "Ill be abe to get them from farter away with this", he thinks to himself.

Ralan will keep his distance from the wagon, ad wait till nightfall. Then, with the crossbow he found (hopefully), he'll hide himself about 80 ft away and shoot one of the guards with a bolt. He'll then wait a while, and repeat the operation till all the guards are gone.

If the guards or Averick start mistreating Talia, Ralan will act more quickly.

OOC: Ralan has no trouble grabbing a crossbow and some bolts from the camp before the wagon leaves.

When Ralan arrives at the wagon encampment high in the hills, he manages to conceal himself in a set of bushes within sight of the makeshift camp. Though the guards are not on high alert by any means, they are organized enough to take watches in pairs.

Ralan also notices that, for some reason, animals and birds do not get very close to the camp. Those that get within say 100' suddenly turn around and walk/fly the other way.
