The worst Roleplaying game ever!!!

Worst Game Ever

Swordbearer. Nice try to have a fantasy RPG with an abstract money system, but it was utterly abyssmal, badly written, and was a waste of money in my opinion.

Runner up: Dr. Who, Star Trek or any of the similar systems used by FASA to utterly not convey a detailed genre they acquired/licensed/used. I still shudder at the thought of Action Points...

Hold one FATAL is free? Can't be the worst then IMHO. To be the worst you have to at least pay for it. Then regret you ever bought it.

Nope. If it's free and you still regret you "bought" it, it means you payed for it with mental anguish. ;)

You know the guy you turn too...a friend of yours..and you hold out a glass of milk and say, "smell this, I think it's gone bad." And he does...I'm that guy today.

Where do I download FATAL? I would like a chance to see anything that ths many people consider to be that bad.

I think I'm going to have to cast my vote for Aftermath.

It was just abysmal. First off, I liked the whole post-apocalypse genre. I liked detailed games. I liked other products put out by the company...

But somehow they had managed to ruin every single possible aspect of the game that I could have enjoyed.

There was an immense level of detail, but it was uselss detail. They had a seperate mechanic for nearly everything. Nothing was ever resolved using the same system.

There was page after page of weapon stats without description or context.

Character generation was absolutely arcane. to this day (and i played the game a lot) I remain unsure of whether we were making characters properly.

Combat was resolved using a massive three-page fold out flowchart with no less than fifty-odd steps per round.

and finally, it billed itself not as a post-apocalyptic game, but as a toolkit for making any post apolcalyptic setting you could think of. Now, normally I like that kind of thing (Hi GURPS), but this whole thing was such a jumbly mish -mash mess that it earns my vote for this thread:)

FATAL makes you want to gouge your eyes out and douse the still bleeding sockets with gasoline and light it up in an attempt to sear the words from your mind.

Other than that, it's not so bad.

If you require money to be spent, then it's probably Synnibar. (Which I bought, and have played. )

Right. We are actually giving FATAL free advertising by panning it here. What a bizarre world. Personally I hate Amber:Diceless Roleplaying. Hate. Really, really hate. I don't toss around the "H" word lightly. I hate this game. I'd rather gnaw my own limbs off than get roped into a game of Amber ever again. To me a game like FATAL is like the movie "Plan 9 From Outer Space" Sure it's awful, but it's so awful it's funny. Amber is like the movie "Night Patrol" which starred the Unknown Comic, Pat Paulsen, and Linda Blair. However, as bad as "Night Patrol" is (and IMO it's the worst thing ever filmed, including home movies) I would watch every moment of a three DVD retrospective including Director's Commentary and an Esperanto-dubbed version rather than play a game of Amber.

I really hate that game.

Really.

Of the games I've actually played:

Kult.

Underground.

Synnabar.

God those all were horrible. I've played Rifts, Wraith, Shadowrun, WEG Starwars - IMO those games were fine, but you needed to have a smart GM who could think his way around some of the big holes in the setting. Of those, Rifts was the worst offender. Smart GM making the setting cohesive by leaving some parts out, and changing others to the whole thing hung together - Good game. GM just running it straight out of the books, as-is - BAD game.
