Things you would gladly buy...

The Twilight Lands (ala Draconomicon): A high-quality resource on all things fey - not elven - and how to incorporate a more traditional fairey tale aspect into your game. Yes, I know about the articles on the WotC website; I would still want an actual book.

Me too. It's my draem, a great book fulled of stories, adventures, locations, magic, races ecc...and info for the fey world in the Forgotten Realms :p

I would really like to see someone come up with a piece of software that lets me build classes.
It would need to have a "wizard" interface that asked what BAB progression, save progression etc. to use.
It would ideally have all the SRD standard class features, feats, etc. pre-loaded, so I could add them to my new class with one click. Of course there would be a simple interface for adding my own homebrew class features as well.
I'd want it to then generate visual output that I could copy and paste into a standard office program and print.
E-tools helper does some of this, but if there were a product a little more robust, and a little more user friendly I'd pay a bundle for it.

Have you checked out DMGenie? It's not the ultimate in usability, as it takes a little getting into, but there's a pretty good class builder wizard in there that I've used before. I likes.

Then again, I'm a DMGenie pimp. I think I got a few people hooked on it back at Miami.

I'm in the process of trying to get it set up fully for d20Modern and Grim Tales ... so to illustrate, I pretty easily built the core mechanics properties of the classes with the wizard, but there's not an in-program method for creating, essentially, two seperate tiers of feats that are selectable only at certain levels, to do Bonus Feats and Talents, respectively. So I had to wing it by offering bonus feats at every level. So hard mechanical changes are hard to do, while some others, not so much.

The word you're looking for is, "sketchy". "Shallow", "thin", "insubstantial", and "a 96 page outline" work too. :)

Okay, between this and the lengthy examination by the Shaman, I now know why d20 Past sucked. I think my inability to articulate the book's problems probably had something to do with just looking at it in the store, saying "Oh, this sucks," and not buying it.

So, add "a decent version of d20 Past" to my list, too.

Expanded Oriental Adventures for me, too.

I would also gladly buy an Adventure Path book from Paizo that isn't a reprint of material from Dungeon. I know that other companies do such things, but I'm only in the market for a campaign book that I'm reasonably certain I'm going to like and going to use as a campaign, and for that I need name recognition. Sorry, guys.

Adventure modules by Bruce Cordell.

And, as far as books are concerned, that's about it. I have more than enough game books to last me all the days of my gaming career, especially since I make up most of my own material. I'm also not particularly interested in seeing a revival of any of the classic settings (I'll not bitch and moan if they make them, but I'll not buy them - except perhaps Spelljammer).

There is one other thing I would gladly spend a fair chunk of money on, and that's the ultimate DM's Aide for the PC. Unfortunately, I suspect that the list of requirements that I have for such a tool would make actually developing it impossible, or certainly impractical, and many of the key ones are non-negotiable.

Edit: I thought of one more. I would very much like to see a new version of Star Wars d20. As with the DM's Aide tool just mentioned, it would need to be re-written to my personal specifications, which I don't see happening. But, since we're talking about things we'd gladly buy, there it is.

A chain of Worldbuilders-kit produkts. Basically books with setting elements that are ready for pug-and-play that are: adaptable, customizable, evocative, original and inovative.

These should include but not limited to:

Tome of Organization:A book with many organizations to inspire or directly port into a existing homebrew, as well as one in developement. I'm not speaking of those short unispired blurb like in the complete books, but complete organization on par with the emerald claw or Red wizards, with background, hirachy, NPC's, Prestige classes, feats and spell. Tipps on creating your own organizations.

Tome of Nations: see ToO, but on Nations.

Tome of Fantastic Locations: see ToO

Tome of Planes: see ToO

Tome of cities: see ToO

I'd also like to see a Complete Stronghold book. Somewhat like the Stronghold builders guidebook from 3.0, but with less emphasis on architectical magic items. Expanding the mundane optins of and reworking the system from the SBGB. More in depth talk about strongholds in campaigns and expanding the fokus to dungeons as well. This book should be big.

Here's what I would buy, immediately:

- A book on D&D economics, including how peasants/commoners live, nobles live, and how adventurers affect the economy. Also includes full rules for PCs running their own caravans, their own ships/shipping cargoes, and their own businesses (including inns & taverns) in which a myriad of player decisions (both character creation and otherwise) make a difference in profits. [Yes, I know this "wouldn't sell"...]

- Forgotten Realms book(s) detailing: Lantan, Nimbral, and the Moonshaes (the "Island Kingdoms"), Sossal, and Murghom [all the last remaining undetailed areas in the Realms]

- mega-modules easily insertable into the Forgotten Realms

You have, if things work out, Cannibal Sector One, Soft Companies, Hunter Sheets and a couple of planet guides at least to look forward to before the next edition
I know I'm so freakin' geeked to incite some Ultra Violence for Mr. Slayer!

Sadly I haven't read any updates from Angus in a while, I hope Cubicle 7 works out.

So as not to railroad:

I would like to see a One Shot book for a Battle Royale RPG. Actually I have plans to do it Unisystem, but I have to find a copy of the basic black and white map from the novel. Hint hint, anyone with knowledge of one please lay it on me! ;)

I'm serious. Publish it and I will buy it. You know it would rock for the highway chase rules alone!

What would I buy?

That I really needed?

Nothing.

There is so much d20 product out there that I could go 20 years without needing more. But that's not good enough. Because clever designers are going to find things I want but don't need and continue to separate my cash dollars from me.

Oh wait. I guess a new, really good fantasy oriental book would be cool!
