except that this is not at all what he was talking about, which was my point all along
Well, if you understood his point to be something completely different, then I have nothing more to say, as I am unconcerned with what you think he's talking about.

So, I don't think this is exactly true. My reading of this thread is that SlyFlourish is talking about 5e. Period. D&D is a specific brand, the one that is owned by Hasbro and administered via their Wizards of the Coast subsidiary.

I think that there is a lot of conflating of 5e and D&D that is leading to confusion. My original point, that I made in the thread last January, was that WotC were shooting themselves in the foot by fighting over control of 5e when it made a lot more sense to just worry about the D&D brand, which they indisputably own and can control via DnDBeyond.

When WotC puts something on DnDBeyond, they are effectively saying not just that this is 5e compatible, but that it is specifically compatible with D&D.
I agree.

That is OK for me. Actually that isbwhat they need to do. They don't want the book of erotic fantasy desaster again.

Maybe it is time though to seperate dndbeyond into different sections. For kids and for adults. Or have a parental control filter.
They won’t, for example, put A5E or Tales of the Valiant on there. It’s not just ugly stuff they’ll avoid.

There’s a lot of mediocre stuff on D&D Beyond right now.
Out of curiosity, if you're somewhat against the idea of WotC "invitation-only, elitist group" D&DBeyond 3PP - Would you join them if you were invited?

@Morrus, how about you? If they wanted Level Up on DDB, do you think you'd go for it? If the numbers they showed looked like a decent enough deal?

I'm not trying to trap either of you in a "money where your mouth is"-type thing. I'm just curious. Do you think that it could be worth it?
