Thri-Kreen

What is the canon Thri-Kreen? There's some stat differences between the MMII and the Savage Species, such as the Int being 8 in the first, and 10 in the latter. Also, gythkas, what are their stats? It says 2d6 in the MMII, and 1d8 in the Savage Species. I see NO reason to use gythkas in the latter case, given that they're effectively bad two-bladed swords.

Just asking for a PC who wants to be one.

Oh

Oh, and what's the real ECL? Because the given ECL in MMII is +3, but the method shown to use in Savage Species makes it come out at +5.

There's also another version of the thri-kreen in the PsiHB web enhancement. That version is much more powerful than the MM2/SS version, with a correspondingly higher ECL.

Savage Species redefines level adjustment to mean the difference between HD and ECL, whereas the monster books use level adjustment and ECL interchangably. A 1st level thri-kreen is a 4th level character, so it's ECL is class levels +3.

A gythka that does 2d6/2d6 is incredibly overpowered, that's almost the same as a two-bladed greatsword. Plus the ability to use two gythka at once, despite the PHB saying you can never use more than one double weapon at a time regardless of number of limbs. So I suspect that's why the damage was downgraded. The reason why you'd use one is that as a thri-kreen you don't need to spend a feat in order to be proficient with it.
