Throwing vs. Archery

Which is better, throwing weapons or bows/xbows/slings?

Hmm, always a toughy in my opinion. I've never played a throwing char, nor have a played an archery ranger. I've always liked the whole ranger with a bane (anything) oober bow of doom, but a ninja w/ a pouch full of +3 flaming vorpal shurikens it just way too sexy...

Would a rogue/ninja get its SA from thrown weapons via ranged SA rules as long as in 30'? I assume so (though personal experience is limited to my trusty sling). If so I'd have to vote thrown...

It depends on situations.

You can't shoot down something flying 1,000 ft. away with your throwing weapon (usually). But if you are a fighter with greatsword and suddenly found an archer is 20 ft. away on the roof, a javelin is better than a bow.

It depends a lot on your definition of "better"

And adding XBows and slings in with bows is almost insulting to the bows.

Throwing is seriously underpowered compared to a good bow. The XBow I think it about right, not as good as a bow, but not meant to be.

The sling they simply shafted. Yet another slap in the halfling's face.

first, slings are more of a thrown weapon. you throw stones with it.
voted bows and crossbows, more acuracy and more range are always better then throwing a grenade and accidently hitting your friends.

Bows -- Longer range, more damage, no need for Quick Draw feat, more commonly found as magic items, more flexibility with enhanced ammunition, easier to carry large amount of ammunition.

Bows, because using them means I didn't just give the ogre a dagger/hand axe/etc he can use against me!!!
