Tell that to Sam Altman. ChatGPT seems to have a considerable amount of D&D content (both WotC and TSR) in its database.... because only WotC’s AI can be trained on 50 years of D&D data

I haven't found that to be the case. It's been pretty helpful to me when converting adventures from older editions to 5e and when brainstorming ideas and such. It seems to be able to evaluate a 5e statblock and judge the CR fairly accurately (using the 2014 monster-building rules) as well.mixed in with a ton of stuff that throws it off when actually generating something for D&D
my comment was not limited to stat blocks, they are probably the hardest for AI to hallucinate about, as they are so limitedIt seems to be able to evaluate a 5e statblock and judge the CR fairly accurately (using the 2014 monster-building rules) as well.
The video game stuff is explicitly coming back.Sure!
I think paired with the killing of Sigil and Video Game stuff and the press on TV and Movies not going great (internally at Hasbro) we might be looking at a massive restructuring and redirection of D&D.
Specifically, I think they're gonna go all in on AI.
My current guess is the bean counters decided that licensing has much better bang-per-buck and so are cutting as much from trpg support as they can to focus on more profitable stuff.
