Me too. But a couple of people have already made posts about the subject of Scientology and I'm hoping more don't because I would rather it not degrade. :)

I think that Tom Cruise is an excellent actor to portray whimps. He should better not be the one chosen to interpret the last samurai however.

Now concerning Scientology: is it considered a religion, or a nefarious cult? Because in the first case I cannot say why I boycott all Tom Cruise's movies, as it would tread on the religious subject that is forbidden on these forums... :uhoh:
Without discussing the merits of Scientology....

In the US, it's largely considered a little bit of both, although "nefarious" might be a little strong. It's often categorized as a cult, though I can't/won't say whether it is or not. Nonetheless, it successfully holds onto its tax-free status as a religion here, so the "official" view is that it's valid enough for the government.

Hope that helps.

From the link I posted above:

In 1993-OCT, the Internal Revenue Service of the United States granted full religious recognition and tax exemption to all Scientology Churches, missions and social betterment groups in that country. The Church is also officially recognized in every province in Canada where it has an organization.

So, like you said, it is officially considered a religion by the government. But whether or not it is accepted by the people is another matter.
