That link you provided is pretty much scoured of anything harmful to Scientology, and they've a rather known practice of filing lawsuits against -anyone- that prints or publically states anything negative about them.

Hubbard only went the religion route because the FDA was prepared to prosecute him for practicing medicine without a license. His book Dianetics claims that all psychiatry is wrong and human problems are caused by 'engrams' in our brains ultimately the fault of supernatural spirits unleashed on the earth by galactic overlord Xenu (but you'd have to pay money to learn that of course). Before claiming it as a religion, Hubbards wife and ten followers of his (till that point) over glorified alternative medicine practice were convicted of burglarizing and wiretapping government officers.

But claiming it as a religion when it was never started as one, and hiring legions of lawyers has apparently made his original scam become respected in the eyes of some. I don't understand it.
