TURTLEDOME!: Battle Bone (DM: KenHood, Judge: Lord S.)

Drivan gets a nagging feeling in the back of his mind and pulls the papers back from his spellbook, examining them more carefully (Arcana check)

Drivan then turns to the rats and folds their paws together, wrapping their tails neatly together so that they are all tied together and unable to move if they do wake up. He also folds their heads up into triangles, removing their ability to speak and hopefully to cast spells.

OOC: Assuming this is possible since we were able to fold them in order to carry them and prevent their escape earlier…

Sergeant….?” Drivan pauses for a moment for the sergeant’s name and then continues, “I apologize for ignoring you, I let myself get a little preoccupied… It’s an honor to serve your community, if there is anything else we can assist you with please let us know!

Turning to the rest of the group he says, “As Sir Swillwort has said I am beginning to think that these paper rats may be too dangerous to be allowed to live. Perhaps if we somehow disabled them? Sir Swillwort, what would you suggest? I know you advocate burning them but perhaps something could be learned from them?

In a quick aside to Marco he apologizes, “Sorry, as I said to the sergeant I’ve gotten a little preoccupied, these rats are quite interesting…

[sblock=weldon]Good segue![/sblock]

The two young officers thank Finnian and hurry away with their compatriots.

Finnian turns the poster around so everyone on the porch can see,
It's another TURTLEDOME! broadside.

The animated scene shows Vaunea swinging her axe at skeletons, who dance out of reach with their thumbs stuck in their ears and fingers waggling, while they stick out their tongues (which just stretches creduility--seriously, skeletons with tongues?). A large skeleton dances in and punches Vaunea in the face. He strikes her so hard that she flips high in the air, pops out of her armor, and transforms into a mundane milking cow. One skeleton whips out a stool and a bucket. He milks the cow, then hefts the bucket and chugs the contents, milk spilling through his bones.

"Got milk?" says the sign.

"We do!"

"TURTLEDOME!"

"Battle Bone!"

Finnian sets the poster down and lends a hand to Marco.
"Thank you, Mr. Finnian. You were always the nice one."

Sorry 'bout that, Mango. You all right, old boy?
The hunchback halfling buries his face in the palm of one hand. "Marco," he sighs--maybe he sobs, "It's Marco."

Seargent! Seargent, sir!

Finnian tries to get the seargent for directions to Dr. Gnash or to stop the old man himself if he's still walking away.
The sarge waves and points down the road. A couple of blocks away, Finnian can see the two officers escorting Dr. Gnash.

Interesting...

They seem to be metaphysical constructs of pure memory. If a person were to peruse them (a minor action), he or she would suddenly recover an important memory (such as the use of an encounter or daily power).

The papers have a tenuous existence. After a couple of days, they'll probably cease to exist.[/sblock]

Drivan then turns to the rats and folds their paws together, wrapping their tails neatly together so that they are all tied together and unable to move if they do wake up. He also folds their heads up into triangles, removing their ability to speak and hopefully to cast spells.
The rats are securely bound and can take no actions, even if they come back to 'consciousness'.

Before leaving, the sergeant acknowledges Drivan's comment with a nicety and wave.

"As Sir Swillwort...
"Please. If you must use titles, Mister, not Sir. I am no nobleman. I'd prefer if you called me by my given name, Obadiah."

"Oh, and Annie, please stop groping the young men and prepare the den for visitors."

She blushes. "Right away, Mr. Swillwort!"

"...has said I am beginning to think that these paper rats may be too dangerous to be allowed to live. Perhaps if we somehow disabled them? Sir Swillwort, what would you suggest? I know you advocate burning them but perhaps something could be learned from them?
"My opinions are prejudiced by the fact that said creatures were procreating by misappropriating my memories. However, I do suppose that certain practitioners of the Art may have interest in them for research purposes. Indeed, if I did not find the beasts so distasteful, I would delight at the opportunity to reduce them to their fundaments and study them in depth."

"In a quick aside to Marco he apologizes, “Sorry, as I said to the sergeant I’ve gotten a little preoccupied, these rats are quite interesting…
"Thank you, Mr. Drivan, for your regard."

Drivan nods in response to Obadiah, "I agree, I would be a little adverse to studying these creatures if they had made my mind their home. I'm glad we could get rid of them for you Obadiah! Could you advise us on a respectable practitioner who would be interested?"

[sblock=OOC]Turn the text white when I edit it in word or outlook, easier sometimes. Sorry if it causes anyone issues! Not sure if I should offer these pages back to Obadiah in case they somehow restore his memory of some past event...[/sblock]

Finnian can see the old man ambling away under the careful guidance of two of the town guard.

Hadaris - I'll be right back, mate! Vanns, you coming along?

Finnian sets off at a light jog after Dr. Gnash holding the old man's bow and arrows out in front of him.

Hey, Doctor! You there! Guards! Hey! I've got something that belongs to you, I think.

When he catches up, Finnian puffs through his cheeks and addresses the Doctor.

Dr. Gnosh, thought you might like these. Smallwarts back there said you were something of a fighter in your day. Thought you might like them back. Know I'd still want my bow with me when I get to your age.

[sblock=KenHood]Couldn't leave the poster go by without pulling it in. I was sure that you had something good there and wanted to share it with us.[/sblock]

Swillwort grins. "I advise you to follow me, if you wish to continue this conversation. I've been spoonfed for the past couple of years, and I'd like to enjoy something with a more bracing consistency than porridge."

He starts to get out of his chair, manages to rise a couple of inches, and falls back. "Let me change my advise. If you wish to continue this conversation, push me to the victuals, post haste!"

"Thanks, Rita. You're a good pony."

Dr. Gnash turns to the guardsman on his left, "Bows are made of wood!"

"Yessir. We kno-"

"Actually, some bows are made from horn and sinew," says the other guardsman.

"Shush!" says the first guard, "Thank you, sir, for your help. Wish we had more people like you."

[sblock=Karmic Goodness]Gold star for Finnian!

Too bad you just gave away that +5 vorpal bow of holy vengeance. You probably wouldn't have liked it anyway.

I do know who'd be interested in these things... comments Hadarai, glancing thoughftully at the folded origami rats. The boss of [size=+2]TURTLEDOME![/size], perfect for his show...

Finnian strolls back to the house, feeling mighty fine. Erlai cocks his head from the tree top as the half-elf saunters by and those looking closely could hae sworn that the bird was shaking its head at his master.

I heard something about supper, is that right? I could stand a bite to eat myself. I'm downright starving after that little tussle we had.

And while we're at it, anyone care to explain to me what just happened there? I shouldn't be surprised any more with all the strange things I've seen today, but whoah! I'm beginning to think that I don't belong in the big city.

 Finnian has no compunction whatsoever about shooting old men full of arrows, but you don't steal a man's bow! Well, at least without killing him first. ;) [/sblock]

Emral interjects Actually, wait for it: I have another idea for the rats. My old Master, the wizard who taught me everything I know (well, ok, I stumbled into his arcane vault and got my powers in an explosion... but yeah), he could likely use these guys in his research. Not only that, but he wouldn't maybe use the rats *against* us. He's got a whole school of students who could benefit from learning about these guys, and likely enough money to pay their value. Heck, maybe we could pay him for some enchantments to help us during the match!

[sblock=my old master] I left him vague in my history, though I imagine him as "the only sensible person in all Daunton"; ye kindly/wise white-beard. Also students in a school, of the snobby "we're smarter than Emral" variety. Otherwise, I figured there would already have been a wizard school for Daunton, but mine may be the first mention of it. Think it'd be best to do a proposal for it in the forum, or design it by comittee? [/sblock]
