TURTLEDOME!: Battle Bone (DM: KenHood, Judge: Lord S.)

The conversation at the table dies.

"Wait. What? No... He said horrible things to me in front of my family and just walked out on you, and you're still going to let him be on our team?"

"C'mon, Violet, let's clear these plates," says Talula, "You children, off to your studies. Now."

All the halflings in the room scatter.

Whoa, whoa, wait, no! I mean, seriously, we're powerless to stop it! The TURTLEDOME! is powerful. I can't even tell you the things we saw due to a ***** that ******* our ***** with a *****. See? I can't even say it: We all signed on magically.
That doesn't mean he's on *our* team, for the Dusty Quill. I do think what he said was a massive misunderstanding. I'm not saying what I think you think I'm saying. Your family has done us a fantastic honor by supporting us, and this team in this room will do its best to defend the interests of the dusty quill.
*however* Hadarai is going to be in the arena when we're in the arena. That *does not* mean he's wearing Dusty Quill gear or signed up for your patronage, right?

Emral tried to say all of this as seriously and sensitively as he could, taking care to be very respectful in tone as he spoke.

Crestfallen, Marco says, "But..."

"But..."

He sighs. Then he grimaces, like he's about eat something terribly unpleasant. "If that's the case, do you think it's at all possible to get him to wear our livery? I mean, the main reason I'm sponsoring you is to raise awareness for the Quill. If there are four people fighting in Quill livery and a fifth without, it causes people to wonder what exactly is wrong with the Quill. Why isn't this fifth person wearing the gear? Is there something amiss? I mean, people will assume that you are a team, even if he's not dressed like you."

"Oh, dear..."

From behind the door to another room, Marco's father cackles, "Ha-ha! Another screw-up, is it, Marco? I told you not to deal with ****** adventurers. They're a bunch of ***** that will ****** you in the ****** ***** and ****** your ***** ****** *****. Hee-hee-hee. Just like ***** Eustace! Heh! I **** always knew Marco was a ****** loser!"

A loud whack sounds, and you hear Talula fussing at the old man.

I understand why you are hesitant about Hadarai, but whatever he is, I don't think he's one to embarrass you, or the Dusty Quill, with his performance in a fight.

I don't think any of us meant to offend. I certainly didn't. And well, this is the first time I've had a proper meal since I came to this city, and well, I'm quite glad of it. If there's anything we can do to help you, I'd like to do it. In the Turtledoom or wherever.

Convince him...? Ah. Well, there's no point worrying about it tonight. I think we've got a full day, if I'm right(?) before the fight. I'll talk to Hadarai, maybe he's cooled off enough to be reasonable. Keep in mind, he's been fighting your cousin and those rats. It's been a stressful day for all of us.
You get those clothes ready (livery is for servants, we're a sports team; let's call them, erm, warrior garb or something). I'll head over to the Hanged Man and see if I can't talk to him. If your wife's sewing is even half as good as her cooking, our colors will look unbelievably fantastic!

Emral calls that last part out to be heard by Marco's wife in the kitchen. He then pats Marco on the shoulder and gives him a reassuring smile; grabbing a last big bite of food, he heads out to the Hanged Man to get a room and maybe some time with Hadarai, to talk to him about the match.

[sblock=ooc]Should I go to the Hanged Man thread? Emral is going to go, pay for a room and see if he can meet up with Hadarai.

on a side note, I'm having a really great homemade shake with all sorts of ingredients. I need to get to a gym, sure, but man I must be getting good nutrients! [/sblock]

[sblock=fireinthedust]Nah. Just keep the adventure posts in this thread.

By the way, has Sorcerer Emral been completed and approved?[/sblock]

[sblock=Group]Y'all have anything more y'all want to do this evening?[/sblock]

[sblock=weldon]Did you ever finish those changes to Finnian and get them approved by the judges?[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]I am done with this evening's festivities. I think we need to move on and get the group back together...possibly figure out what we are going to do in the library.

Thread has kinda slowed down since the blow up.[/sblock]

Vaunea, seeing her friend rise to leave, gets up to thank Marco as well. "Food good. Marco wife make good food. Vaunea thank her. Where sleep?" Once told where she should be resting, Vaunea gathers her things and gets ready to slumber.

[sblock=OOC]Actually, we're going at a pretty good clip compared to other threads, but I--like the rest of you--want to get to some violence.[/sblock]
"I guess we'll call it a night," says Marco, "We've got a bunkhouse down below that we use for the scribes on busy jobs, if you wish to sleep here."

"It's right next to my apartment, dudes," says Uncle Mikey.

"We'll put some fresh linens down for you all," says Marco's wife, Talula.

"I suppose tomorrow, we can talk to Hadarai, and I can take you to the library, as well," says Marco.

"Oh, yeah, man, and I need to talk to you dudes about, like, potions," says Uncle Mikey, "'Cause I've got some ****** awesome *****."

Two days to TURTLEDOME!

[sblock=OOC]Post your actions for the next day![/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]If I can head over to the library now I'll do that, if I need to wait for everyone else then...[/sblock]

Drivan heads below to the bunkhouse after thanking Marco and Talula for their hospitality. After getting a good nights sleep he follows Marco to the library where he begins researching [sblock=OOC]What should I roll[/sblock]
