Alright! Who said that?!?!?!
*raises hand*

You might as well throw in that gauntlet that increases your damage die by another step and still count as an unarmed strike while you are at it :)

Why? Are a bunch of TWFing, Flurrying Monks going to start an unstoppable unchecked killing spree?

Why? It cuts short the question of whether or not TWF can be used with flurry, what weapons are involved, what the modifiers are, and so on. The effect of flurry and TWF are quite similar. The rules are quite simply easier if they are the same tactic, just with specific benefits for the monk.
And simpler, in this case, is better.

That is not a reason. Otherwise, you might as well outlaw magic in its entirety.

Had this very question from one of my players last month (he has a rogue and thought about taking monk levels) and, after thinking it through, we agreed that they didn't stack.

Houserule or not, it works for us.

Of course it's a reason. It's just one you don't like.
Simplicity is not a reason. Otherwise you'd outlaw half the magic effects in the game as they are too complex (Polymorph, Legend Lore, etc.). You might as well outlaw AC while you are at it, all those crazy categories of bonuses and what stacks and what don't. Confusing and overly complex, I tell you! And bonuses, any bonuses! Yeesh! Make up your minds already, WotC! Stop it with the "some stack, some don't" nonsense! And the different size and reach!

Ugh! How is one supposed to play a game with all these darned rules? ;)

Coincidentally, they have in my last three campaigns.
Um, how?? Were they fighting commoners, or what?? Maybe kobolds with no class levels??

Unless their opponents were tied up, incompetant, or otherwise seriously AC-impaired, I just do not see how the TWF/Flurry combo could *possibly* be game-breaking, even just compared to the lowly Fighter class, much less Clerics or Druids.

Flurry of Blows is already 'flurry of misses'. Adding more penalties for another attack just means more chances to miss.
