Two-handed-Two-weapon fighting Munchkinism

Silly?

Strongbad the mighty Half-Orc barbarian roars a challenge at his foe before slashing down with his Greatsword. The weapon chops almost halfway through the poor human warrior. The warrior's friend, though saddened by his pal's division, grins evily and prepares to safely smite the barbarian while the greatsword is trapped in the human's body. But the barbarian roars again and blasts the other human's jaw through the back of his head with a well-placed kick.

That's not silly. That's cool.

True munchkinism....

Here I was thinking your were going to go for real power.

Take TWF, Ambidexterity, and Monkey Grip so you could fight with two greatswords. :D

You can't wield two greatswords. Only one. The Monkey Grip feat specifically states you are limited to wielding one weapon that one size category larger than you in one hand.

I would say that being a monk is key, actually.

Here's a quote from an older sage email I got. It was refering to the ability to use armor spikes as an off-hand attack:

If you are wielding a two-handed weapon, could you also make an armor
spike attack?

I recommend not.

---further---

If so, would you still get the damage bonus of strength*1.5 on the two
handed weapon, and then (I'd assume) no damage bonus on the spikes? And
what would the penalties be? -4 for the sword, -6 for the spikes?

Should you ignore my recommendation, treat the two-handed weapon as the primary weapon. It gets the standard penalty for a primary weapon in a two-weapon attack (see table 8-2 in the PH). You get normal Str bonus with the weapon (just like any other primary weapon in a two-handed attack). The spikes are the offhand weapon, and work just like any other light, off-hand weapon.

Which implies that the monk ruling is monk specific, especially since that entry in the monk section of the FAQ....

So, in other words, yes, you can. Even though Skip isn't crazy about it, the rules still support it. That backs up the FRCS errata. Cool. :)

Just reread the feat. It does not limit you to one weapon at a time. The feat says "You can use one melee weapon that is one size larger than you in one hand. " Then later is states: This feat can be taken multiple times, each with a different weapon. To me this means that the feat only applies to a single weapon type. (i.e. Greatsword or Greataxe), just like exotic weapon profenicy does.

Wouldn't it just be simpler to get a wizard to polymorph you so that you have 4 arms, then take multiweapon feat and dual wield greatswords 2 handed?

:D

How's THAT for silly?

Ah but using two greatswords can be done by 3rd level human fighter.

1st Level WF Greatsword
Human Ambidexterity
Fighter 1 TWF
Fighter 2 open
3rd level Monkeygrip.

:p

Of course your mode woud be -3 + ST bonus to hit so unless you had a 16 or higher ST you will have a negitive attack bonus. :(
(-4 for TW and -2 for monkeygrip + 3 BAB).
