I like these, but will not be allowing anyone to load and fire ranged weapons in melee combat with NO risk. This just sets up ridiculous situations where ranged characters sit right next to melee combatants.

Imagine a gunfight with both side by side the whole time. Stoopid.

Other than that, I really like the new feats. Especially those like allowing fighters more fighting styles and others to dip into them a little.

This is nothing new, crossbow expert already allows it.

I don't like the ability to change things every level. Make the benefits static.
Not static. Either level up or 12 weeks should be sufficient. Maybe allow study time to be reduced by 1 week per point of intelligence bonus.

Maybe allow a PC to use inspiration to gain an at-will benefit of a fighting style for one round. It's rarely going to be worth it I guess.

Kind of a crazy idea but...Crusher, Slasher, and Piercer should also grant weapon proficiency in bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing weapons respectively. That way my Forge cleric can wreck face with a warhammer or maul without having to take multiple feats or dip into multiclassing.

That language is there for people who make mistakes and find their choice isn't working out. It's a permission to retcon your character without having to fight the DM tooth and nail for it. They don't expect people to change it every time they level up, and most people won't. If nothing else, that kind of rules makes the Protection fighting style much more attractive at early levels. Once you get Sentinel (for exemple) you can change it for Defence or something else instead, so you don't have clashing reactions. It also helps if you're a Duelist and find a two-handed magical weapon, for exemple.

And even if someone WERE to change their fighting style every level it doesn't actually mean anything. There's no advantage there they could gain that would be that great.

I don't have to imagine, and it's rad as hell.

Also, I'd forgotten that cute puppy motivated action movie violence wasn't invented by John Wick. :ROFLMAO:

The survey is up. For the first time in a long time I actually felt it was worth completing the survey. Feat UA articles tend to be some of my favourites and this one was no exception.

I copy and pasted the same paragragh over and over to start the comment of every "class feature" feat.
