Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Cleric, Druid, Wizard Options

In another new Unearthed Arcana (these things are coming out fast right now!) the cleric receives a new Divine Domain option: the Twilight Domain; the druid gains a new Druid Circle option: the Circle of Wildfire; and the wizard gains a new Arcane Tradition feature: Onomancy, the magic of true names.

It didn't appeal to people because they didn't know what to do with it.

A tin opener wouldn't appeal to people until tins where invented.
They want options that appeal to people who aren’t going to run games in whatever world the product is for. If the wizard in question only appeals in the context of a world with a whole guild of such wizards, it doesn’t appeal enough to go in a 5e book.

Personally, I rated it highly because I don’t care even a tiny little bit about protecting any niches, and because I would play the hat wizard without any such infrastructure. Apparently I’m not enough in the majority.

How?

And moreover, how do you avoid it when the druid touches himself with a torch or sticks his hand in a campfire?
“When you take fire damage from an enemy or trap”
“When you take fire damage greater than X”
“When you take fire damage. This damage can not be taken on purpose.”
Etc

Might have been fantasy grounds, idk. It’s in a thread on these forums.

The archivist is an a tiny section of a tab visible in one of the images.

Hmmmm, I'm not seeing that in the photos on the Fantasy Grounds previews, the only Subclasses I can find a reference to are the Alchemist and Artillerist. I guess we'll see?

Oh! Nope, I’m a liar and a fiend. Archivist will be in the update to Wayfinder’s Guide, IIRC. Don’t recall exactly where I saw that, but WGtE will have 1 subclass that isn’t in Rising.

Ugh, really? That would be frustrating if they did that. Making so much overlap between the two but Rising doesn't completely take all of Wayfarer's into it so we can just have one Eberron book. I hope that doesn't end up being the case.

There are a lot of folks who purchased Wayfinders on the understanding that it wouldn’t be entirely consumed by an eventual hardcover book.

This is a derailment of a derailment, but my understanding of Wayfinders was that once they had finalized all the playtest and gotten the Artificer where they wanted it to be, it would be available for Print on Demand.

The fact that they are reprinting so much of Wayfarers in this new book is frustrating. I also was frustrated by the SCAG reprints though too. Ok, I'm done on this since it's a complete derailment of the this thread for which I apologize.

Okay, from the perspective of mechanics, that works fine. But how do you justify it in the in-game fiction? For instance, what's the difference between sticking your hand into a campfire and having someone hold your hand in a campfire against your will?

I find answers that don't make the mechanics and fiction match up highly dissatisfying.
