I think your memory or perception is selective in this regard. People call out Lovecraft's racism all the time here.

My point is that it's still allowed to be brought up outside of this thread, if i were to make a thread say about the casting of the HP show, it would get shut down.

H.P lovecraft gets a pass apparently because he's dead and his stuff is in the public domain but his works get brought up on here often and no one bats an eye or objects. As Spock once said "all things being equal" it wouldn't get brought up at all, but it's an unequal world we live in.

There was a whole big long thread just a few months back about Howard and Lovecraft, and I don’t think either got a pass. I would actually say in probably both cases, both authors have had several biographical and academic papers written about their various issues and the impact on their writing. So yeah, can’t agree at all with that.

That's what makes me say it, if everything was treated equal then the discussions of Lovercraft and others wouldn't be allowed, but for the reasons i already stated they gat passes and it's an unequal world.

People have been discussing HP throughout this thread without resorting to the obvious stuff that’s against the forum policy. I mean, are you trying to get this thread turned into something else?

Are you joking? We've had some fairly heated threads on this board about Lovecraft with some arguing his books shouldn't be in school libraries. For a while there it seemed like you couldn't have a thread about Lovecraft without someone helpfully reminding us he was racist.

outside of this thread, it's a forbidden topic, while the others are not. I would have loved to discussed Hogwarts legacy when it came out and i'll happily love to discuss the show/casting but i think the thread would be closed.

To try to make my point crystal clear for the last time: You're allowed to make threads about their works, you can not as far as i am aware make a separate thread about Harry Potter anything (video game,tv show, movies etc) IF Lovecraft, Howard and others were treated the same you would not be allowed or strongly discouraged.
