To undermine my elitist credentials from the last hot take: ketchup is good actually as a master sauce. It's a complete blend of sweet, sour and umami thanks to the tomato, makes a great basis for other flavors, is surprisingly easy to make and adapt for different purposes with other ingredients but still perfectly serviceable in nearly all mass-market forms.

Ketchup deserves more respect.

Its odd, because I'm fond of tomato, but I've never liked ketchup on anything. I suspect its the sweet element.

When you play an RPG you’re pretending to be a character in a fictional world. You as the player don’t need to pretend you’re not playing a game. Hint: you really are playing a game. The books don’t need to pretend they are not game manuals. Hint: they really are game manuals. Their singular job is to convey the rules of the game contained within the covers from the page to your head. The books don’t need to be in-world objects.

Medieval Europe would make a great setting if only it were actually represented for the diverse and complicated place it was around the year 1000, rather than the hackneyed romantic vision of that era from centuries later

Try Harn. It gets a LOT closer. And the maps & detail are amazing.

I'm of the opinion that its still pretty much the Platonic ideal of an SF war/horror hybrid movie, but you can certainly argue that isn't, in and of itself, something everyone should be impressed by.
