Unusual Gaming Groups

Does anyone have any good stories about some "unusual" gaming groups they played in? I have one...

I here a lot about people talk about spotting the ever elusive "Female Gamer". A creature almost as hard to prove the existance of as the Yeti or Sasquatch. However, I've played in an all female group before. There was 1 DM (who was male), and all the players (besides me) were female. There were 4 players before me, all female and then I came in and made the fift player. Although one of the female players played a male character.

Hey, I told you it was unusual.

I had that a few years back. I called them my Valkerye group. All of them playerd female characters and it was a lot of fun.

14 people, none of us knew each other previously to playing together. We all met through an ad in the game store. The campaign went 3 years and was one of the best gaming groups I've ever been in, in my life.

How about this:

one DM (male -- that's me!)
one to three players at any given time (all female)

all of us were 11-13 years old.

My strangest group was three players 1 Dm, where the dm only spoke dutch and two of the players only spoke english.
THey played knights in a foreign country and I played a scout interpreter. Great fun (particulary cause I played a half-skaven that disliked knights:D).

DM: "Welcome sir knight!"
Me: "They say we cant stay here today"

my first stab at the new edition.

i hadn't played a face to face game since 1989.

this was early 2001.

i had owned and read the books. visited the websites. etc...

but couldn't convince myself to take the plunge.

anyway, after a night of heavy drinking or something i decided to take the plunge. i answered an ad on the boards over at Whizzers of the Cost.

my prior experience had been with all males, all my age, all my friends from school or community. all christian. all with similar backgrounds and views.

the DM was pagan. gay. and lived with someone.

i had no experience with this, but i had taken the plunge. so felt committed to at least try.

so i go over his place to chat. talk about my prior gaming. meet and greet kind of stuff.

while there, he left to use the bathroom. i look around a little. there is some kind of cross thingy. straight out of Blair WItch project hanging on the wall.

i'm staring at it when he comes back.

"Oh, that's my roomies. She's a witch."

"You don't have to be so harsh about your roommate on my account."

"No, she is a real witch."

i left shortly thereafter.

but i did return and game later on. after a few shots of whisky to settle my nerves.

Well my group would be fairly unusual compared to most, as we have not one, but two females... one of them being me. (Despite my screen name, the person behind Ray Silver is female.) Thus providing even more proof that the elusive Female Gamer exists. :D
