URGENT: Best feat for 12th level wizard?

Iron_Chef

First Post
My 12th level conjurer needs a feat, and I'm thinking of taking:

Chain Spell (from T&B, p.39)

Compelling Caster (lets me apply my +4 Charisma mod to all dispel and SR rolls, stacks with Spell Penetration, from Ultimate Feats)

Greater Spell Penetration (from FRCS)

Likable (+2 Bluff and lets me apply my +4 Charisma mod to all enchantment spells I cast, stacks with Spell Focus Enchantment, from Kalamar's Villain Design Handbook)

Repeat Spell (from T&B, p.39)

Spellbook Mastery (lets me automatically learn a number of new spells every level equal to my +6 Int mod, from Ultimate Feats, p.23---my DM is rather stingy about giving me new spells through other means and my budget/schedule doesn't allow me to research them)

Twin Spell (from FRCS)

I have, through PrC class features, several virtual metamagic feats: Empower Spell (Conjuration only), Enspell Summons. Yes, I have Augment Summoning and Greater Spell Focus (Conjuration).
I also have Spell Focus Enchantment from the Domination domain. Next level I will get Maximize Spell (Conjuration only) as part of my PrC, so that's out, and the level after that my summon monster spells will only take 1 action to cast instead of 1 full round. I can cast a Silent Teleport thanks to the Mystic PrC, and don't see a great need for Silent Spell outside of that.

Chain Spell from T&B looks good. Chaining Melf's Acid Arrow, Bolt of Conjuring (BoEM), Ecstasy (Armies of the Abyss)... yum! Not to mention charm monster and dominate person in a level or two.

not metamagic...but

At 12th level you might want to think about picking up spell penetration because it sucks when your spells fizzles against SR.

For Metamagic- chain is a great feat, you might also want to get the repeat spell.

Chain targeted dispel can be damn nasty.

You may want to consider empower spell for general use. Empowered buffs under 3e are pretty good about raising DCs.

Have you considered spell focus - transmutation? then you can polymorph the enemies or disintigrate them. Poly is also a good buff for those summon creatures, or an emergency healing.

I already have Spell Penetration (got it at 9th level, proved very helpful vs. drow and demons so far). Greater Spell Penetration might not be a bad idea to take, either... Hmmm....

I've revised my original post to show the feats I'm considering, so please check that out and only respond with a different feat if it's totally awesome and I'd be stupid not to take it (can't believe I missed something like that, but wouldn't be the first time, LOL). :)

Spell Thematics can be cool, if it fits your bill. Energy Substitution/Admixture are also very useful (Sonic Incendiary Clouds are oh so fun!). Eschew Materials is absolutely awesome for a Wizard, too (it doesn't increase the spell level at all).

My DM lets all arcane casters use Spell Thematics on one spell of their choice (signature spell) free. All casters get eschew materials free, as we have never played with material components as they are too much trouble to remember. We never use counterspelling, either, as it's too much trouble, too.

Tell us more about your character. Are there any prestige classes you want? What kind of spells do you like to use? There really is no cut and dry answer, it all depends on your character.

If the campaign will eventually go into Epic levels, it would be worth acquiring Silent/Still/Quicken Spell. They would allow you to meet the requirements for the Automatic Silent/Still/Quicken Spell feats in the Epic book, which allow you to Silence/Still/Quicken spells of a certain level range without using a higher level spell slot. They also let you meet the prereq's for Innate Spell (I think this one is from T&B), which turns a particular spell into a spell-like ability usable at will.

Of course, from your post it sounds like you're more concerned with your immediate future. :D Whatever you decide on, good luck!
