Using Warlock to fuel Draconic feats

Hello,

I have a player that wants to build a Sorcerer 1/Warlock X.

He is taking the Sorcerer level so as to qualify for Draconic Heritage (CA).

Can he then use warlock invocations to fuel, say, Draconic Flight? That feat reads: "After you cast an arcane spell with a casting time of one standard action, you gain a fly speed of 10' per level of the spell you just cast for the remainder of your turn..."

Since invocations are considered arcane spells with a level equal to 1/2 your caster level, it'd seem that this is legit.

A notable exception would be the Draconic Breath feat (gives you a breath weapon), because that requires you to EXPEND an arcane spell. But all the others seem like they'd work.

Any thoughts? I don't think this will break the game -- warlocks aren't game-breakingingly awesome and diluting their already slow progression with a dip into sorcerer just makes them weaker.

Don't you have Dragon Magic? The Dragonfire adept sounds more like what he wants.

I have a Dragonfireadept ATM with many Draconic feats, even claws. I do allow him to use the breath weapon as if it would be a spell for these feats.

I agree with you; its certainly not optimal, but he wants to do it.
Whatever yanks his/her chain.

I think Darklone has this one right, take a look at the Dragonfire Adept Class from Dragon Magic.

Untrue. They have a level equivalent determined per-spell, but that's only for the purpose of interacting with things like a globe of invulnerability; invocations are specifically spell-like abilities instead of spells.

Casting is not the same thing as using a spell-like ability.

No. They are considered spells of a certain level and CL for purpose of Dispel Magic, Globe of Invulnerability, that sort of things. They aren't spells per se.

I think I would allow it, still ... why waste a level like that, Fell Flight is a great invocation so why worry about free flying?

I pointed this out to him at the session and he agreed... All he really wanted out of the draconic feats was Draconic Flight, which is far inferior to Fell Flight. So he just made a straight warlock 6. Much more effective and simpler to boot!
