W1: Blacklily Violence (Completed!) [Rae Judging]

Solange's Badger heads for the man in the dooraway and attacks just before it disapears. Solange follows the Badger, and knocks at the man at the door with her quarterstaff, if he's still standing.
OOC - the badger ought to wink out before getting another chance to attack, methinks. We're doing amazingly well, guys.

OOC: No, I believe it winks in and does something in round 0 (when it arrives), and keeps doing something and then expires when it's duration is over (round 1 for me).

D&D FAQ Page 61
In the description of the summon monster I spell, there’s
a sentence that says in the last round of the duration of the
spell that the monster “acts normally.” Does this mean that
the monster acts normally for the type of monster it is—
that is, no longer under the control of the summoner?

No, it means that there are no special limits on what the
creature can do during the last round of the spell. It takes a
normal round’s worth of actions, then disappears.

I think a Judge would need to rule to make sure, but from how I read that, that's how the spell works.

OOC - that'd be good. Just seems odd to me to get two rounds of actions out of a spell with a duration of 1 round. Not sure why you'd count from 0 rather than 1. I take the FAQ entry to be relevant at higher levels when the spell lasts more than a round, saying that it doesn't spend any actions in its disappearing, i.e. still gets a full round of actions. But at level 1, its first and last rounds are one and the same.
Still, what say you, your honour?

OOC: The spell only lasts one round, meaning it takes one action. Summon Monster SUCKS at first and second level, I'm afraid.

...unless you summon it in front of something that's moving. Fast.

Then it's a hoot.

Cludge Slatefist

Wow, that went fast.
Pendrake? Where are ya, man? Cludge yells. Seeing that the rogues in the doorway are taken care of, he will head to the kitchen and Pendrake. If she has already been taken down, he will attempt to stabilize the bartender.

OOC: That's fine :) I've seen it played the other way before though. Probably means I should have taken a different feat, though the badger was pretty deadly. Just ignore the badger's actions.

Rathan had seen enough of what was going on over the top of the table to growl.. the bowman in the window was now the focus of his rage.. YOU need to STOP shooting at my friend!' he barked as he charged the window and sent his mace crashing through what was left of the window hoping to connect with the womans head.. or her crossbow... either worked for him as he was now one VERY unhappy cleric.... Saithnar was the closest thing he had to a true friend here in town and he was not about to lose him to a bolt to the chest...

[sblock=Actions]I will move to the window or charge to it..... though I doubt it makes a difference unless there's something in the way... and try to bludgeon the woman firing at Saithnar through the broken window... If she's still alive my third round action will be to get outside through the doorway if possible to get a better attack on her if she doesn't run.. if she drops... well I dunno yet then for the third round action LOL[/sblock]

OOC: well hell..I just noticed tommy got a nice shot in on her.. but I guess seeing as my action was first.. I could have pasted her with my mace first.... before he got his shot off.. so I guess my action still works.... heh.. it might change her living situation from bleeding out to dead.. but meh.... and easy fix.. heh

OOC - since I'm Captain Retcon at the moment ;) let me just point out that since Rathan has engaged, Tommy's successful critical hit on a nat 19 will instead take a -4 penalty for shooting into melee, making it a mere 15+2=17, which I suspect will have missed the woman, since she probably has an AC of 10 +2 Dex +4 cover from the window, so at least 16 (if she's wearing leather armor or better, then he missed!). Now we're doomed! :p Yeah, okay, I'll shut up now.

Round Three!

Rathan moved towards the crossbow-wielding woman, but was stunned to see her shot dead by Tommy's well-aimed shot (Sorry, Captain).

****ROUND THREE****

Conuld bops the rogue on the head as he moves outside. He sees the mage, blindly groping around the cobblestones of the darkened Orussus street. He seems to be feeling around for his hat, a good metre out of his reach. Frantically, the mage feels around, until he hears Conuld's footsteps. In a panic, he gets to his feet and starts to run - although he only gets about five feet before he trips over a loose stone and sprawls out on the cobblestones once more.

"You blinded me! I can't see!" he growls.

The woman in the kitchen tries her best to stab Pendrake, but seems distracted by the sound of the dwarf rushing in. "Dammit!" she curses as he blade once more slices air.

Valera's Attack Roll, Round Three (1d20+1=10)

Rathan finds himself standing out in the street, looking down at the inert body of a blacklily rogue. Her scarf is still tied around her neck, but her pale blond hair has spilled out over the cobblestones, made even paler in the moonlight. The cracks and crevices of the cobblestones are already filling with dark blood, like little box canyons.

Solange's celestial badger evaporates in a puff, and she finds herself standing over the unconscious rogue, bleeding even more from his head wound. She takes a second swing, just as his eyes begin to flutter open. The last thing he sees is Solange's crook, heading straight between his eyes.

Cludge rumbles into the kitchen, waving his axe. He takes a double move to reach the kitchen, and sees Pendrake and the woman locked in a furious melee.

Pendrake makes several well-executed maneuvres with his morning star, and forces the woman on the defensive. She finds herself standing over the dead body of the bartender, tripping over his form. She falls backwards under Pendrake's assault, and has to use one hand on a countertop to balance herself. Using this moment of weakness, Pendrake is able to bring his morningstar into her unprotected side, cracking several of her ribs.

She lets out a muffled "Ooompf!" and drops her blade. She then pitches forward, and Pendrake is able to catch her. He looks into her eyes as a red bubbles out of her nose and the corner of her lip.

Tommy looks around for a target, but cannot find one. The bar has become nearly deathly silent, the only sound the front door creaking in the wind.

Saithnar's ray of cold slaps into the mage's arm, causing him to scream shrilly. He scrambles to his feet and does his best to escape, shouting "murderers! Guards! Guards!" as he does his best to rub some feeling into his left arm.

Ducking down, he investigates the necklace around the woman's neck. It is a simple brass necklace; the type of jewellery one gives a child. It is obviously new, inset with glass "gems" and simple inscriptions.

***END OF COMBAT***

OOC: Good fight, guys! Actually, rather unbelievable.
