Wands, how to use them.

Normally, a wand can only be used once a round. The use of a magic item/device is considered a standard action, unless noted otherwise. My question is this , can a wand be used more than once in a single round? If you have a BAB greater than 5, or two wands, one in each hand, can you go twice? I unserstand that a round is made up of two move equivalent actions, a move action and a standard action, or a full round action. I also understand that when using a wand it is a standard action or a full action or more depending on the spell. Things get fuzzy for me when two wands enter the picture. I understand the two-weapon fighting rules but would the modifiers that apply to two weapons fighting also apply to using two wands? I can see them appling to ray spells but what if the spell is area effect or some other type of spell. How do you apply modifiers in that case? Can you even use two wands simultaniously?

Thanks for the help.

If this has come up before, I am sorry. With the search feature down I did not know where else to go.

Huhhuhhuh...he wants to know how to use his wand....huhhuhuhuh

:)

Attacking with two wands in one action would require a specific full-round action which said "you can activate two wands". Because there isn't such an action, you can only use one wand per round (not withstanding Haste, etc.). You can attack with two weapons only because there's a "full attack" action.

Because activating a wand counts as a whole standard action and not just an attack, you also can't use iterative attacks to get multiple wand usages.

For the record, I am just a simple sword swinger, not smart enough to use wands. :p The whole two wand thing came up in our last game, not my character.

Nonetheless Galfridus, what you say makes sence. Since activating the wand requires the whole standard action and since you get only one standard action in a round, you can only use a wand once, thanks that helps.

Well, I do not see why you couldn't attack with a wand twice in a round. Of course this wouldn't accomplish much since wands are small and tend to break easily.

However, you are, of course, spot on with regard to activating a wand twice in one round
