War Pick; ?d8

I think SAGA did something like that, so it's a distinct possibility. Note that the powers we've seen so far (i.e. the paladin smites) all start with "2x[W]", so you'll probably get a multiplier from some if not most of your powers.
SAGA gave a static bonus to your damage (half your level) as you leveled up.

An ongoing theory is that 4e may have a similar idea, but rather than a static bonus, it will be extra damage die as you level. Which would work especially well with the new crit system. More variable, less static = the more impact that maximized damage die on crits will have.

It's also worth pointing out that most of the weapons in SAGA have multiple dice for damage. For example, a lightsaber does 2d8 damage and a blaster pistol does 3d6 damage. So that 6th-level damage bonus (+3) is a moderate increase compared to the average damage (10.5).

So I think it's highly possible that extra dice of damage will be added.

It'll be interesting to see. I was going to go back and check playtest numbers, but with the archive down, those are all gone... :\

I'm pretty sure it's quite logical according to what we know to assume that damage is 1/2 leveld?

so a 10th level fighter with a pick attacks 1d20+5+strength, and does 5d8 points of damage. I think it makes sense.

We've not had any evidence that points to that yet, even though it is how SWSE does it.

Prof = proficiency
Prof =/ professor, profession, profanity, profuse, proforma, profane, profungus, profootball

Score = necessary rank to use the weapon
Score =/ random number, 8-ball, couple, pair, twin, gemini

Let's not be naive about how this all works shall we :)

That, that right there. You're making that up. Sure, it makes sense, but that doesn't make it correct. There are lots of ways they could make proficiency work, and that's just one of them.

Actually, given that "Prof." comes just before "Damage", it's possible that the number under "Prof." is the number of damage dice for a proficient user. So, a character proficient in the war pick deals 2d8 damage, for example.

While I agree that "prof" most likely means proficiency, I don't see any proof of "Score = necessary rank to use the weapon" bit. From where do you get that?

Now that would be interesting ...

And non-proficient users would do 1d8, under your theory?

I think that would quickly get out of control..but it would be neat. It's not that way though ;)

Common sense folks...they're going to rank weapons by complexity. Club: 1, Double weapon 4. Pick..well, we already answered that one. :)

THERE WILL NEVER BE A 4E..THAT'S PURE SPECULATION!
