Warhammer RPG, Gotta love it

Well we started playing WFRPG and I got to say I am loving it. I always liked the world. Wasn't the biggest fan of Fantasy battles but I played (Go Skaven!!). Really enjoyed the RPG when we used to play it way back when.

Now with WFRP2 out I have rediscovered the game. I like just reading the rule book, I like the random career character generation and the grittiness of the world.

Hell I let an innocent guy hang the last game because I didn't want to take the time out of my drinking to save him. The dwarf felt bad but he was the one buying the drinks :) Me and the elf teamed up cause we found out the Dwarf was noble, a rich (compared to us) noble. To bad he knew how to fight and he did help kill those darn goblins. Now we have a small riverboat captain we want to hunt down.

For the time being I would rather play WFRP than D&D. Then again the only game I have really been playing is D20 since Summer of 2000. So I am likeing the change of pace.

Well just thought I would share.

Yeah, I was looking over the Rulebook at Barnes and Noble the other day and it just looked like a really fun game, especially as a nice change of pace from d20, which I'm starting to get a little tired of.

I'm going to try and convince my friends to let me DM a WHFRPG sometime in the future. If I can, then I'll be picking that book up very quickly.

Also, I gotta say, it looks fricken beautiful.

Looks good, indeed. I went to work and hour early the other day, expecting to buy it at the bookstore (I work in a mall). Sadly, they were out. My house's a half-hour away, so it was pointless to drive, and I had to sit around for an hour. That kinda sucked and I still don't have the book.

Love it! Though I'm not crazy about how magic works, it can be a fun process! I hope more people get into it. I've also heard rumors of a 40K rpg coming, though nothing official!

P.S. Black Industries have their own forums here: http://www.blackindustries.com/
Lotta good advice and suggestions!

It's also a nice break from all the "options" that are available for characters in other RPGs. Here, you have the following choices during character creation:

- You can choose your character's race and gender.
- You can choose to improve one of your attributes to the racial average.
- After rolling for your starting chareer twice, you can choose which of the random results you want to take.
- If your career lists actual skill choices, you can select which skills of the ones listed you want to take.

That's it. Everything else is done randomly. Character creation in less than a quarter of an hour. And you have a distinct character who really fits into the world...

And critical hits...don't forget critical hits! :] Although they aren't quite as detailed as Rolemaster, the critical hits are pretty cool (not for the one being hit, though)...

I am even thinking about starting a story hour on it! :D

I have to say magic is very interesting, and while basic in v2 has a lot of options. I like it. ;)

Now, if you want to spend the money and find out background for the game, check out the Warhammer Fantasy Battle army books, 50% or more is world background, Tomb Kings and Skaven are two good ones but been eyeing the orge realms.

I'm looking forward to giving it a try, too. I have the material and have been going through it (and sort of comparing it to the old Warhammer RPG) and it really is a welcome addition to my gaming shelf.

My players are good natured enough to not mind taking a brief break from our usual gaming schedule in order to try something new. They will get a kick out of the randomness.

The ones in the first edition were more colorful, though...

Given that eight releases for WFRP are planned this year alone (!!!), I don't recommend this to anyone who doesn't have a really big budget.

On the other hand, if you can find the old "The Enemy Within" campaign (1st edition, but it should be little hassle to convert), snap it up immediately...
