It was said in the preview of the Wizard that their use of wands, staves and orbs set them apart from other classes. But according to the warlock character sheet, he also needs a wand to use eldritch blast and other powers. I guess that all arcane casters are like Harry Potter, unable to do anything magical if they don't have a wand in hand.
