We need to add a special vendor...

After playing many hours on chainmail... Its obvious we need to add a vendor that carries all the special goodies that arent available in Chainmail. Chainmail is great, but it was designed with the ida in mind that the magic forges would be working. Since they arent much needed items arent available.

For example... Epic weapons able to hurt the stronger epic critters. Many of these will follow a character across server lines and into towns often. Its very disapointing to not be able to even touch the monster due to "weapon ineffective" with an epic Charcter even.

There is also a missing level of magic weapons and items as you come up the ranks as a new cahracter. The vendor would fill in the gaps.

Since the Item level restriction is on there really wont be any problem with having the items available. Its not like ALL the chars are going to have them right away as soon as they get gold... They have to first gain the needed levels to be able to use the items.

Anyway, ive been playing around with a small "planar vendor" test MOD with a vendor or two on it. I am going to try to add it to the version of Chainmail I have and see if I can add a portal to it from shorline(or whereever). if it works I will post back here, and hope we can add something like this to the existing MOD.

Otherwise its a great world. Still amazed by the dungeons and places I visit with all my chars(I have many)...

Oh and Morrus... Chazman has reached lev 40. Hes basicaly just a char that visits from time to time. Im wondering if I can have a special item I made(Monk Gloves) available to him..? The level on the item is 39 and its for monks only.
Anyway just wondering.

SOunds like a good idea.
Now I haven't plau=yed in awhile mostly due to fact there is not ongoing quest and lack of magic items forcing me to also have to run from encounters. This would aleviate one of the 2 issues.

I know Morrus said he didn't want to do any major alterations to the mod but if other people like Chaz are able to make the Mods and get it too work would Morrus then be willing to update the online Mod with these?
 

Here, here. This would greatly enhance game-play for most of us, IMO. This should not be a large change/enhancement as the merchant could be limited to one area.
 

It's not that easy - Chainmail works differently to most modules. You can't just drop something in with the toolset, you have to use a bunch of weird complicated scripts designed by kadamait.

However, if someone wants to look at the module and figure out how it all works, be my guest!

I have a friend doing that atm Morrus.. so if there are any significant alterations or tweaks you want let me know and ill add them to his list :)
 

Well... all we really need is to have the vendors stocks expanded to include the things missing. Since ILR is turned on, its not really as big a deal having the items for sale. Chars need to reach a level that allows then access. But not having them(or a way to enhance items in-game already) does put a kink in an otherwise great PW.

So if we cant just add in my vendor... Maybe we can add all the available armor/weapons/items to the vendors that missing in the game already?

According to the chat I had with my friend tonight the modules scripts are in a little bit of disarray and no doubt the crashes and lag issues stem from these problems asd lots of loops in scripts are occuring especially when anything is picked up or purchased.. there are also problems with the henchmens AI scripts, some problems with the death script whereby someone can die and still be there (one Cantrip suffered a while back).. so there is quite a bit to look at, go through and hopefully correct.
