Weapon finesse for a monk ?

Rousing Fox

First Post
Hello all.
I currently play a monk in the RttToEE, but I count more on dexterity than on strength. So I'm quite unuseful in combat :(
So, I was wondering : could a monk take the weapon finesse feat choosing his hands as the weapon ?
I've seen nothing in the PH, the feat says only "light weapon". Are the monk's hand a light weapon (I remember something about it, and I think the answer is yes), and is that weapon eligible for the feat ?

Yes. Anyone can choose Weapon Finesse (unarmed strike), because an unarmed strike is considered two size categories smaller than you, and a weapon is light as soon as it's one size category smaller.

Er, would this only affect hitting someone. Or could you get a bonus to grapple/trip/disarm....? Could you take them seperately, if they are not lumped together?

Weapon Finesse (unarmed strike) would directly improve:
Disarm checks (they use opposed attack rolls)
Sunder checks (they also use opposed attack rolls)

It would increase your chance of hitting with the touch attack needed to start a trip or grapple attempt, but wouldn't give you any bonuses to your trip and grapple checks.

You can not take Weapon Finesse for grapple.

You can't be disarmed or sundered if you are unarmed. But, sure, they'd help on YOUR disarm/sunder attacks.

That is exactly what I did with my Monk. Weapon Finesse unarmed strike is the best bet. For extra damage I took Fist of Iron (Sword & Fist and OA).

mmmh, no, I think I'll stay on my way : fast and sneaky. Maybe less damages in a round, but more chances to survive the combat :D
And I'm happy, my DM agreed :p
