We're Not in Kansas Any More

The evening out climbing with the kids had been fun, a good stretch for his muscles Havisham Grey thought and the expectation of some muscle soreness kept his eyes shut for a moment despite the discomfort. He was in his underwear and socks although luckily he still wore his shirt and singlet, his compass in the shirt pocket, his jade tiki around his neck and watch on his arm.

It was the other voices that eventually startled him into full wakefulness and he looked around in a panic

"What the...!" he bellowed barely even noticing his surroundings "where's my family? Who are you?l"

Still in a half-sleep state of mind, Bryan comes alert at the sound of voices in his room. Sitting up quickly, he reaches behind himself towards his lower back for both of his FN Five-Seven's in their holster's, but both hands come up empty.

Once Bryan settles from the sudden shock of voices in his apartment, he finally realizes that his apartment has vanished around him. Rubbing his thigh from where the deck of cards in his front pocket has dug into his leg during his sleep, he starts asking questions. "Where am I? Who drugged me? Who put you up to it? I told Two-Tone I'd get him his money next week! I don't have it right now."

Noticing the attire worn by the others, and the confused look on their faces, he stops rambling. "Uhh........... hello?"

Dustin turns to watch as other people begin to rise from their slumber behind him. Still stunned he can't formulate any response as some of them start hurling accusations around. Eventually he finds his voice again.

"Um. . . I'm going to go. . . see if I can find out where we are."

He points off in the direction of the cave's entrance and slowly starts off in that direction, limping slightly from an old knee injury.

"Ok is this some sort of prank? Where's is my truck?" says the tall young Indian wearing blue jeans, cowboy boots, and a denim shirt. Standing up he heads to the cave entrance to find his truck and get his bearings.

Frank walks bent over to the cave entrance and looks out. It doesn't help him get his bearings.

The cave entrance is about thirty or so feet above the desert floor. A rocky slope leads down to the sand and scrub. There is no sign of Frank's truck. No roads, no trails either. About a half-mile away, there is a cliff face. Frank hears the chitter of insects and the sounds of the people in the cave behind him, his own breathing and the thud of his heart, but nothing else.

Overhead the night sky is clear and dark, generously dotted with stars. The full moon is nearly overhead, and this is the most disturbing sight of all. The moon looks different. Larger than it should be, and the shadowy pattern of craters on its surface do not form familiar shapes.

Everyone also notices a strange lightness to their bodies, almost like being underwater but without the resistance of water.

OOC: Here's a picture of the scene outside the cave. Just imagine it was shot at night. :D

"What is this, Utah? I didn't go to sleep in Utah."

Not seeing any sign of people other than those in the cave with him, Dustin retreats away from the strange view. It doesn't seem quite right. He looks around at the others that seem to have found themselves in the same situation.

"I don't suppose any of you know what's going on here?"

Isaac was sleeping hard, and was having another one of his nightmares. At first he thought there must have been storms that passed through the night as he was colder than normal. Then in his sleep like state, he noticed his bed was awful hard and that he must have lost his pillow. As he started to gain back his senses after starting to wake up, he noticed others around him he had never seen, but most important was the questions in his mind..

Where am I and who are all these people.
Isaac sits up puzzled, and start to hear these other people jabber about this new place.

The sound of vocies wake April, and her heart begins pounding hard when she realizes there are several men in the house with her. But when her sleepy eyes focus on the strange setting, she jumps up hitting her head on the low ceiling, then backs away from the others into a corner of the cave. "Who are you people and where have you taken me." She looks to be in her mid twenties, with dark blue eyes, blond hair and a face that needs no make-up. Her hair, long and loosely braided falls over one shoulder, and a silver locket inlayed with mother-of-pearl dangles from her neck. She is wearing men's styled pajamas which look to be made of silk and are a vivid red color. Her feet are bare and her fingers and toes look well manicured with a light pink enamel covering the nails of both feet and hands.

Realising that the others here were as lost as he was Hari (as his mother was wont to call him) pulled himself to his feet and for modesty's sake adjusted his shirt so that it hung about his waist in the manner of a pareu.

Approaching the entrance he looked up at the stars suprised at there orientation and most of all the unusual appearance of the moon. He is no expert but his training did include traditional celestial navigation techniques so he should be able to identify a couple of the more prominent constellations.

To help he took up his compass and attempted to get his bearings...

can I use my Knowledge skills to attempt to identify a constellation and use it to orientate ourselves?.

For the moment at least, it seems as if the men in the cave with April are more interested in what's outside the cave than they are in her. The older gentleman fishes, of all things, a compass out of his shirt pocket. The dial spins toward north just as expected. What isn't expected, however, are the star's configurations. Havisham cannot identify a single familiar constellation, not even the readily identifiable Big Dipper.
