Werewolf Wild West, why not Vampire Wild West?

I'm starting a Vampire Chronicle (campaign for you non-White Wolf people), and I'm setting it in Tombstone 1880. Some interesting aspects:

-1 player (may expand later).
-Tombstone literally just got it's start no more than 2 years ago, according to the probably not-too-accurate net history I read; therefore almost zero vampires.
-Player made a Chinese immigrant who's spent seven years working on the railroads. Once he got a decent amount of cash ($50, the inflation adjusted Resources 1), he came to Tombstone to try and make it rich in the silver mines.
-Fought off a couple thugs and impressed an ancilla Brujah who came to Tombstone with grand plans of becoming Prince of the soon-to-be city. Embraced by this vampire.

What do you think? And does anyone have any cool ideas?

I loved the Werewolf: the Wild West setting almost as much as I liked Vampire: the Dark ages.

The setting is pretty werewolf-rich though, and unless your two vampires really keep to the masquerade, they are in for a whole world of hurt (and it likely won't involve Tombstone, as they wll have to flee the city).

In the modern Vampire: The Masquerade game, players (well, my players) have always played pretty fast and loose with the masquerade. This really isn't an option in the Wild West what witht he werewolves being omnipresent, and the kine being in short supply (and they do talk).

Your Brujah (witha few levels of celerity) could well be the "fastest draw in the west". His inability to meet anyone at high noon could impede his fame though:)

I would start the vampires at higher-than-starting level, and make sure they all have Protean 3. Might make the campaign last longer :)

Don't forget, even in 1880, Tombstone isn't a very big town. Its a few thousand people.
 

The problem I have with Vampire: Wild West and to greater extent Vampire: Dark Ages is that until the invention of the the electric light bulb the majority of human activity takes place during the day.

Vampire going on the Crusade.... erm sorry the army marches by day.

Vampire fight in historic battle erm sorry that took place during day-light as well.

Its a bit like High Noon in the wild west.

Even today vampires are going to have a hard time shopping except in winter as most shops are shut before dark.
 

I figure that in a world with vampires, a few more shops would be open at night than are in ours, due to vampire "influence" in the city.

Also, the internet would be a great boon for vampires :)

Actually, if you have the Dark Ages sourcebook, there is a section that addresses exactly that issue. And the reasons you cite aren't exactly relevant to the Dark Ages mileu of Vampire - the characters aren't out to go on Crusade (though they may happily profit from it) or engage in battlefied violence. As you point out - those things happen during the day. The game, as written doesn't assume otherwise.

Not where I live. There are plenty of places that are open 'til 11 or so, or midnight and beyond during weekends, especially in densely packed urban areas (coincidentally, the places that most vampires like to haunt).

Younger vampires are going to be fairly net.saavy (or hell, even catalogue saavy). Older vampires are going to have someone to help them navigate the Big Bad Modern World anyway, and that includes shopping for skivvies.

And if you happen to hit the Barrens: WalMart/K-Mart/Target/most-supermarkets are open 24 hours a day.

The real problem with Vampire: The Wild West is very, very simple...

Your character can't ride off into the sunset! Who wants to play in the old west if you can't ride off into the sunset without becoming part of the trail dust? :)
 

If you timed it right, and had a shelter hidden near by, you could kinda ride off into the sunrise... and maybe people would get confused and history would just sorta shift it into "sunset"...
