D&D 5E What Arcane Traditions would you like to see

I kind of liked the 2e Options schools: Shadow, Geometry and Dimensionalism (pretty sure that wasn't the name of the school; it was the one focused on that kind of thing. :P )

Honestly, I'd go so far as to limit wizards to only spells from their specialization school. So an Illusionist would be an Illusionist, and an Enchanter would be an Enchanter.

This approach seems a bit over the top. I'm an electronic engineer but I still need a good understanding of mechanical assembly to do my job.

I think the suggestions of limiting the spells prepared that aren't from your school or boosting spells from your speciality are pretty good. I would be inclined to do something easy like, at least half your prepared spells must be from your specialism, rather than complicated formulae.

Previous editions way of precluding your chosen school's opposition school are a great feature, it's a shame they did away with it, but 5e seems to mostly have done away with the idea of give with left while we take with the right.

Aside from the obvious setting-specific Traditions of Defiler and an Arcanist that actually works, I'd probably most like at least one decent Elementalism-based wizard, and maybe a Star or Time-themed Tradition, too - we don't get a lot of either sort of magics in D&D, and that's a shame.

My 4e Star Pact Warlock was themed / refluffed on the interface between astronomy and astrology.
The time his Daily turned a portal to an Abyssal Plane of Water into a portal to Jupiter's Great Red Spot for a complete turn was a hoot. And it really messed up BBEG's plans.

I would like to see a Defiler that doesn't automatically hurt all your allies, or double-tap damage against the enemies (in order to get the Defiling effects, you do Fireball damage on everybody but yourself).
 

I would like a Truenamer, at least in feel. I fluffed a 4e Invoker to get the same result. That was fun as concept creation, but I haven't played him beyond demos.

The 3e Truenamer added an additional to-hit roll (to-speak roll?) to the basic attack flowchart, with a not-very-good chance of success.

How would you write rules to indicate that any NPC who puts a gag on your character, deprives him of his chief capabilities?
