My campaign of 13 years ends sometime in the next month or so as they finally reach it's final confrontation.

After that, I'll do what I've always done, use what I like from everything I've bought to inform further campaigns regardless of edition.

But I'm not going to 4th. I'm swinging into True20 & Omni System territory. Since they are based on 3.x, everything I have from 3rd Edition is still useful in many mechanical ways.

So, I don't have any crap, it's all useful. In fact, I have so many books of so many editions, and from some other systems, that I really won't even need to buy any rules oriented material again.

Thus, I'll be playing with it, and referencing it, and other.

Definitely keep it. And use it. 3.5e is a great game just like 4e will likely be.

And there were dozens of fantastic products for 3e/3.5e that I wouldn't dream of throwing away. I certainly wouldn't reference them as 'crap'.

If you posted a list of stuff, I'm sure loads of people would recommend what's worth keeping.

Long way to go

Next summer is quite a way off for me. Even though I'm excited about 4e, I know I won't have time to read a new set of rules and be ready to play immediately.

Yet, when I do, my 3e stuff will go right next to all my 1st, and 2nd edition stuff, stored away safely.

Didn't buy many books. Guess I left all that to another person in the group. The books that I bought were ones I could take ideas from, so a new edition changes some of the crunch, but I can still use all the books if I wanted or merely glance through them occasionally and enjoy them.

I really haven't had a chance to enjoy 3e to its utmost due to work schedules, so I plan to hold on to it and play it until this happens.

Ive never bought 3e books, only borrowed them/SRD mooched. Races and Classes, which I will probably get today, will be my first D&D product

I've sold DMG and MM already.

I will left PHB as a remembrance. I will left DMG 2 because I really like Robin Law's stuff and beucause it is timeless (or editionless). I will left Forgotten Realms CS, because it is nice setting and good book. I will keep Draconomicon, because I like dragons. I am not quite sure what to do with Unearthed Arcana. I will keep Expedition to Castle Ravenloft.

So that's all the stuff I have and that I've had. I bought just those titles I really liked (or extensively used) and I still like them. I am planning to do the same with 4e.

I'l keep mine, thank you very much. I'm still working on my 3.5 homebrew, which I have pumped countless hours into. My books help to serve as inspiration and refrence material. Also, I have a good memory as to what is which book, and need access to them quite quickly, which is why I keep them within 2 steps of my computer.

3.5 will always be my game of choice, regardless of how many editions come after it. It is perfect for me, and though I am looking forward to what 4E brings, it is only because I plan to raid it for ideas for my 3.5 game. ;)
