Thanee summed it up best so far. I roll for the player whenever (1) the result of the roll or (2) the mere fact that a roll has been made would give the player more information than his character would have.pogre said:What checks do you make for the PCs? Search checks are a perfect example. If a character is taking a mere round to Search (and not taking 10), the character's player should have no idea if the character did a "good job" searching (rolled a 15) or a "bad job" searching (rolled a 5).
