What do you plan on doing for your last 3.x campaign?

This is only for those who plan on switching to 4e when it comes out. If thats not you there is no reason to post below.

With one year left thats pleanty of time to get in 1 last campaign using 3.5 befroe 4e comes out, especially if you are like me and plan on waiting until you have all 3 core books before jumping into it. Right now I am playing in a fun campaign where we, as a group, are finally doing some planar stuff with Sigil, Demonweb Pits, and some old Planescape modules. We are 10th level and will likely play up to at least 15th. After that its going to be my turn to run a game.

I have a couple of options, I suppose.
1) I could go back to the Ptolus game I was running and needed a break from, which turned out to be longer than I planned. The Players would like that, but I would want to stop running NoD and retool it for my own purposes. Just not sure about that.
2) Run a campaign around the Valley of Obelisks from Shattergates of Slaughterguard. Thats how the current campaign started and I have had thoughts about the larger world the Valley is set in and what could be done with it 25-50 years after the current group of PCs have gone off to the planes.
3) Something that uses a lot of the newer classes, Like from the Book of Nine Swords and Tome of Magic, just to try them out.
4) Run a "Grand Tour" campaing. I tried that once, and it didnt work out exactly like I planned, but know how to change that. I would like to run a campaign where the PCs travel all over the world to exotic locations. I always have so many ideas they never fit into one game and would like to have one last 3rd ed game where the PCs get to do everything and fight everything. Where they raid kobold mines, fight through ruined temples filled with yuan-ti in the deep jungles, explore pseudo-egyptian ruins, fight white dragon worshiping barbarians on the tundra, sneak around a lich controlled city of the dead, and wander the twisting halls of a mind-flayer monastary in the depths of the underdark I want them to deal with rival adventurers, thread their way through a war, play off factions competing for their favor, and face secret villains. To me this seems like a great way to retire 3.5. Of course I suppose I could combine it with #2 and #3 above. Not sure yet.

So, any plans for a LAST 3rd edition campaign? Anything you want to throw in there you have't yet?

We just started the Age of Worms AP from Paizo. I might fork off the story a bit and do Exp to the Ruins of Greyhawk, but that will only be if the mood is right.

Last 3E campaign?
Guess I'm dying about the time 4E is coming out then.

I know the other DM and I will both look at the Core books when I buy them and then judge from there weather we want to stay full 3E (we have enough for years of play there), go full on 4E, or just start snagging some stuff from 4E and play our version of 3.75. ;)

Wow. Two posts before someone ignored the first two sentences. To repeat:
"This is only for those who plan on switching to 4e when it comes out. If thats not you there is no reason to post below. "

Yes, lots of people will stick with 3e. I am specifically interested to see if people are planning something "special" before they transition to 4e or if 4e isn't really going to effect their 3e campaign and they will just switch when the time comes.

I think the changeover in my game, if I do indeed change over, will go very much like the changeover from 3 to 3.5. Essentially, we spend a session rebuilding the PCs and explaining rule changes. Any inconsistencies are either retconned or houseruled away, and the game goes on as normal.

Well, first of all I am going to finish my current campaign. I hope (and assume) I will then have enough time for another campaign: SCAP.

I'll only be able to switch to 4th edition after the PHB has been translated into German since most of my players have difficulties reading the English books. AND I will have to convince them that switching to the new edition is a good idea :)

I'm still going to buy the new Core books as soon as they're released. Maybe there are some new, neat simplified rules I can introduce as house-rules while still playing 3.5.

I have actually used 4ed as an excuse to announce that the campaing will end in about 10 months.

3.5 years will be enough. Only question is if I sneak in a taste of city brass (which would be like a big mouthful of anything else).

"and then everybody died in a giant fiery ball that was visible from space."

Honestly I have to see 4e first before I know what I'm doing. I imagine I'll be using a long Unisystem god-game to make the world with my players, then brewing up some kind of confluence of E6, 4E, and Legends for the rules themselves.
