This is only for those who plan on switching to 4e when it comes out. If thats not you there is no reason to post below.
With one year left thats pleanty of time to get in 1 last campaign using 3.5 befroe 4e comes out, especially if you are like me and plan on waiting until you have all 3 core books before jumping into it. Right now I am playing in a fun campaign where we, as a group, are finally doing some planar stuff with Sigil, Demonweb Pits, and some old Planescape modules. We are 10th level and will likely play up to at least 15th. After that its going to be my turn to run a game.
I have a couple of options, I suppose.
1) I could go back to the Ptolus game I was running and needed a break from, which turned out to be longer than I planned. The Players would like that, but I would want to stop running NoD and retool it for my own purposes. Just not sure about that.
2) Run a campaign around the Valley of Obelisks from Shattergates of Slaughterguard. Thats how the current campaign started and I have had thoughts about the larger world the Valley is set in and what could be done with it 25-50 years after the current group of PCs have gone off to the planes.
3) Something that uses a lot of the newer classes, Like from the Book of Nine Swords and Tome of Magic, just to try them out.
4) Run a "Grand Tour" campaing. I tried that once, and it didnt work out exactly like I planned, but know how to change that. I would like to run a campaign where the PCs travel all over the world to exotic locations. I always have so many ideas they never fit into one game and would like to have one last 3rd ed game where the PCs get to do everything and fight everything. Where they raid kobold mines, fight through ruined temples filled with yuan-ti in the deep jungles, explore pseudo-egyptian ruins, fight white dragon worshiping barbarians on the tundra, sneak around a lich controlled city of the dead, and wander the twisting halls of a mind-flayer monastary in the depths of the underdark I want them to deal with rival adventurers, thread their way through a war, play off factions competing for their favor, and face secret villains. To me this seems like a great way to retire 3.5. Of course I suppose I could combine it with #2 and #3 above. Not sure yet.
So, any plans for a LAST 3rd edition campaign? Anything you want to throw in there you have't yet?
